When Hallelujah Acres had its humble beginning in that little 11-foot-wide store front in the little town of Rogersville, Tennessee (population less than 5,000) on February 12, 1992, little did we realize that 20 years later Hallelujah Acres message that “You Don’t Have to be Sick” would be circling the globe.
In recent years, the Hallelujah Acres health message has been spreading rapidly across Africa, especially in the country of Nigeria. Many Nigerian Christians have already traveled to America for training and now Hallelujah Acres has been asked to come to Nigeria to share God’s health message in churches across the country.
On November 14th, Paul and Ann Malkmus will travel to Nigeria to minister with the Hallelujah Acres health message in churches, on television and radio, as well as holding Health Minister Trainings in various cities across the country.
I would like to share with you a letter I received recently from one of those Nigerians who has already come to America for Health Minister Training. His name is Rev. Tony Akinyemi, pastor of The Shepherd’s Flock International Church in Lagos, Nigeria:
“Dear Rev. Malkmus, I can’t stop praising God and appreciating you and your dear wife Rhonda for the great work you are doing. I was so elated again, as always, when I read recently another testimony of healing from Nigeria. You will recall that I attended Health Minister Training in Shelby in 2004 and returned to Nigeria to begin proclaiming The Hallelujah Diet on seven different television stations and three radio stations. Currently our television broadcasts cover 47 African nations on the Omega Channel. The Health Shop I opened in Lagos has supplied thousands of jars of BarleyMax, juicers, and other Hallelujah Acres products to the Nigerian population over the years. I am honored and blessed to have met you at the peak of my health crisis to obtain counsel and encouragement from you that made it possible for me to recover. My testimony appeared in Health Tip #623, dated October 27, 2009 (see below for portions of that testimony). I just wanted you to know that I am still healthy and waxing stronger by the day and still passionately and vigorously proclaiming healthy living through several channels – quarterly newsletters, books, CDs, DVDs, seminars, radio, television, weekly electronic Health Tips, etc. In fact, I am writing you this email from the garden city of Port Harcourt in Nigeria where I have been conducting Health Seminars for the past four days in two locations with hundreds of folks in attendance. I will be back to my base in Lagos by the weekend. Next week I will be in Accra, Ghana to minister health to hundreds of Pastor’s Wives who will be present. It might interest you to know that I have published a book titled “How to Regain and Retain Your Health” which has been a bestseller here in Nigeria. Thanks and thanks again, Rev. Malkmus. My warmest regards to your dear wife Rhonda. Mega blessings to you and all those at Hallelujah Acres.”
Following are portions of Pastor Tony’s experience with the Hallelujah Acres Diet and Lifestyle in his own words:
Sometime in 1999, Tony Akinyemi, a pastor and author thought his life was coming to an abrupt end. For some years, he had been waging a protracted battle for his life after he was diagnosed with over 30 ailments including an acute duodenal ulcer, second degree hemorrhoids, high blood pressure, and partial stroke.
He was even screened for HIV four times but tested negative on each occasion. Despite all the treatments he received his situation grew worse. Not even fasting and prayer could turn the situation around. Convinced that death was knocking on the door, he began to prepare his wife for widowhood.
“I enrolled her for an MBA program to prepare her for a better job so that she could cater for herself and our three children after my anticipated demise,” Akinyemi recalls. . . . “I did not want my exit to impact her and the children too much – at least as far as standard of living was concerned.”
“One thing I kept assuring myself of was that, at least, I knew where I was going. If I dropped dead, I knew exactly where I was going. My name is in the book of life. Jesus, Who is my Saviour and Lord, already paid the price for my redemption. Praise God, I am born again. I am not afraid to depart from this body and go to be with the Lord, which is far better.”
As it turned out, Rev. Akinyemi did not die. Divine intervention came for him in the way of The Hallelujah Diet, a diet and lifestyle that is currently making waves in many parts of the world, particularly in the USA.
“My health challenge started on a mild note in 1997. I was always fatigued and tired. My energy level really nose-dived. I would sleep for hours and still not be refreshed. Then I began to feel terrible pain in my chest that radiated to my back and through my ribs.
“One symptom after the other kept coming on board. I almost fainted while preaching as a guest minister at a church in 1999. I had to hold on to the pulpit to stabilize myself . . . . On my way home I stopped by at my family clinic. The doctor on duty examined me and prescribed some medications that didn’t help me a bit.
“I kept on looking for answers. I explored spiritual options (fasting, praying, prayer vigils, confessions of faith, etc). But my condition remained the same. For three consecutive years, from 1998 to 2000, my health did not improve but rather grew worse.
“During one of the Ministers’ Conferences I had planned, I included a session tagged ‘THE MINISTER AND HIS/HER HEALTH,’ and invited two medical doctors, who were also pastors to handle the session. The session was included primarily because of my own personal health challenge. I desperately wanted to be helped, and also wanted the over 2,500 fellow ministers and church leaders we were expecting at the conference to learn one or two things about preventing and dealing with disease.
“After the conference I scheduled an appointment with one of the two doctors who spoke at the conference. . . . He ran a comprehensive medical checkup on me, and diagnosed chronic duodenal ulcer. He also found out that I had elevated blood pressure and high blood cholesterol. Treatment with medication commenced.
“By 2001 my situation had gone really bad. A doctor friend invited me to the teaching hospital where he was working to see some specialists. I did, and got scared even further by one of the specialists. He suspected I had cancer growing somewhere in my upper GI tract. He sent me for upper GI endoscopy and biopsy to confirm this. I refused to go in for the procedures. During the months that followed, I was still very much unwell, feeling tired, and dizzy.
“I had over 30 symptoms during my ordeal which included: Severe chest pain; recurrent sore throat; constant bleeding from the throat; mouth sores; ear aches; sinus problems; numbness of whole left side of my body; severe bleeding, 2nddegree hemorrhoids; constant headache; pressure in my head; chronic backache; dizziness and loss of balance; chronic fatigue syndrome; infections; severe malaria; depression; anxiety attacks; panic attacks; insomnia; overweight; severe cramps in my legs; tremors in my hands; painful swelling on the right side of my abdomen; chronic duodenal ulcer; suspected cancer of my stomach; brain lesions; and acute stress.
“I was even screened for HIV four times. I tested negative each time. . . . Meanwhile all medical remedies applied only gave me temporary relief. . . . The prescription drugs I took added their own various side effects to the long list of symptoms I already had. The medications added nausea, diarrhea, and dizziness. The drugs knocked me silly. They made me to sleep and sleep and I was gaining weight.
“For the next couple of years I was deteriorating fast and losing my health ever more rapidly. My energy level nose-dived even further and depression set in. I had been a very healthy, agile, active, and dynamic person prior. . . . Suddenly, I found myself dying in installments and I realized what I needed was more education – NOT more medication.
“I had prayed, confessed the scriptures, fasted, and did several pastor prayer vigils to no avail. . . . I also went to see great men of God whom I asked to pray for me. They laid hands on me and ministered to me. Still, I didn’t get any better – not because God no longer answers prayer. Rather, I believe that God simply wanted me to learn some things about caring for my own body before He would allow healing.
In 2003, I consulted another doctor in the USA who suspected I had brain lesions. He ordered a CAT scan which I refused. . . . In 2004, I lost my voice completely for a whole week.
“I continued to pray and ask for God’s mercy to show me where I went wrong. He pointed out to me that my schedule was too heavy, that I was living a stressful life, and that was destroying my health. God also showed me that my DIET was not the best way to eat. So diet and lifestyle became the real issues.
“God said that if I would address these areas of my health, my health would improve. He directed me to the Bible bookshop and to buy books on Healing and Health, and He would begin to teach me how to come out of the woods of ill health.
“The bookshop manager recommended a particular book for me to read first. The title of the book was “Why Christians Get Sick” by Rev. George Malkmus, a Baptist preacher in the U.S. He drew his principles from the Holy Bible, based on God’s Original Genesis 1:29 Diet. . . . He emphasized the diet and lifestyle God had already revealed to me and that got me very interested. This was another dimension.
“At the end of the day, I came up with a 10-point agenda I must comply with to recover. As I began to implement the 10-point agenda, I found out that out of the over thirty symptoms I was experiencing, one after the other began to vanish. . . . The numbness was the first to go followed by the cessation of rectal bleeding. However whenever I violated the dietary patterns, the symptoms came back.
“The throat bleeding continued until 2007. In March 2007, I was back in the U.S. after I had sent an e-mail to Dr. Malkmus. I told him about my experiences and how I had been following The Hallelujah Diet since 2004, but that the throat condition persisted. He encouraged me, prayed for me, and told me that the easiest of the symptoms were usually the first to go while the more serious ones sometimes remain for much longer.
“He assured me that since 27 symptoms out of a little over 30 had already disappeared, it showed that I was on the right track. He encouraged me to continue to do the right thing and with time I should be totally healed. . . . The final symptom disappeared in 2008.”
