Do you feel like life is hard to handle when you are on your period? PMS is a common problem for women, and it can result in a number of symptoms that can have a domino effect on all aspects of your day. Women often agree that they feel emotional and “out of control” when their hormones are changing for their monthly cycle.

Common PMS Symptoms

PMS symptoms can vary from one woman to the next, and these symptoms might even change during the course of your lifetime. These are some of the PMS symptoms that are often experienced by women, and these symptoms can continue into perimenopause as the body begins to change:
  • Irritability
  • Mood swings
  • Migraines or headaches
  • Lack of energy
  • Frustration or anger
  • Bloating
  • Cramps
  • Pain
  • Swelling
These symptoms can be quite unpleasant, causing a woman to feel out of control when she is on her period.

Remedies for PMS Symptoms

Even though your period comes and goes, you don’t have to experience the mood swings and other symptoms. With a few regular habits it is possible to balance your hormones and prevent these problems, resulting in a situation where you feel like you are in control all month long. Luckily, there are a few natural remedies that can be used to help reduce the symptoms and make you feel better. Here are a few things that you might try:
  • Drink herbal tea to calm your nerves and soothe your symptoms. Chamomile or peppermint are both great options for you to consider.
  • Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. The fiber will be beneficial for digestion to decrease bloating, and you will feel better because of the healthy diet that you are following. Try adding a healthy salad at lunch and dinner, making sure that you get salad as much as possible.
  • Stay away from sugar. Did you know that sugar causes hormone changes and it can make you more moody? Stay away from anything with refined sugar and High Fructose Corn Syrup, including cookies, cake, candy, soda, and more.
  • Use stress management techniques, such as taking a long bubble bath, exercising, prayer, or relaxing while reading a book.
Another option that you might consider is a high quality hormone balancing supplement to support your body. We have the Luminology line with several options for you to choose from, depending on your age and the experiences that you are having with your hormones.
