Tips for Supporting Your Emotional Health in 2016

Supporting Emotional Health

As we are kicking off the New Year, many people are thinking about their goals for 2016. January is a time that people often set resolutions and make commitments to improve various areas of their physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health.

Holistic Goals for the New Year

If you have set physical goals, such as losing weight or eating healthier, then you should consider other supplemental goals to support your emotional, mental, and spiritual health at the same time. The truth is that everything is connected, and the only way to achieve the true physical health that you desire is by also focusing on other areas of your life as well. When you take a well-rounded approach for personal improvements, you will see that it becomes much easier to reach higher levels of success overall.

For example, if you are caring for your emotional health, then it is much easier to prevent emotional eating because your stress levels will be lower. As a result, you can easily avoid the negative habits that might result in sabotage to your weight loss goals. Another example is that spiritual goals help you to see your value and beauty through God’s eyes, which in turn keeps you motivated to take care of your physical body.

How to Support Your Emotional Health

Here are a few things that you might consider if you are looking for ways to support your emotional health. These are great options if you want to improve your overall wellness in 2016:

  • Don’t Bottle Up Emotions: Some people bite their tongue when they are feeling sadness, anger or frustration. It is good to be careful about your responses in order to stop yourself from lashing out at others, but be careful that you don’t bottle up those emotions. Experiencing emotions is a natural part of living, and it is ok to let yourself feel the negative emotions sometimes. Let the feelings process, and then allow yourself to move forward with positive feelings once again.
  • Write It Down: One healing practice that you can use is journaling, which offers an outlet for you to release the emotions that you are experiencing in a healthy way. Find a writing method that works for you, and practice this activity on a regular basis. Some people find it easier to sit down with a pen and paper, while others prefer to type out their thoughts.
  • Talk to God: If you are feeling overwhelmed or sad, remember that God always offers a listening ear. Take a few minutes to pray and share your thoughts with God. In your prayer, express your feelings and ask for the support that you need to keep moving forward.
  • Balance Your Hormones: When hormones are off-balance, it is much harder to manage emotional and mental health. Make lifestyle changes to support hormonal balancing, and make sure that you are using a high quality hormone balancing supplement such as Luminology.

With practice, it is possible to support your emotional health, which is beneficial to help you reach other New Year’s resolutions that you have set.

  1. Our body has the ability to heal itself. But in today’s world so many habits and typical diets outweigh this healing process. Over the last couple of years I have begun changing my eating habits. Drinking more water, taking supplements, and a daily consumption of Bragg’s vinegar. Recently I started drinking warm organic green tea at night. I noticed almost immediately its calming effects. Also its natural aiding process in pushing toxins out of my system. I hope to soon begin a daily exercise regimen. Currently out of work, but am searching for part time. Being I have more personal time to myself, it is my desire to utilize this period of time in continuing a positive outlook in improving my life; emotionally and financially. God has it.
