The Best Gifts A Mother Can Give

My mother, Eva, was born on March 25, 1912 in Constable, a small farming town near the Canadian border in upstate New York.

As a child, mother’s diet was primarily garden foods coming from the family farm. But in nurses training she learned that flesh for protein and dairy for calcium were mandatory.

Because of what mother had learned, flesh and dairy were regular fare when I was young and sugar desserts were served daily — the results to my entire family were devastating.
