Poll: 83% Do Not Want National Health Care

Health Tip PollIn a recent poll conducted on the Hallelujah Acres website, over 1,000 people responded to the question: “What is your response to the Supreme Court upholding the Affordable Health Care Act?”

Of those 1,000 respondents,83% said they were: “Disappointed it was upheld; 15% said they were: “Pleased it was upheld”; and 2% had no opinion.

In many nationwide polls, the percentage of people who want the Affordable Health Care Act (AHCA) repealed is over 50%. Why, when there is such a high percentage against the Act, are there those who still support it?

Reverend Malkmus Enters the Fray

I remember when then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was trying to push this bill through Congress.  She said: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”  And that is where I believe the problem lies. I believe the reason there is still a percentage of people who support the AHCA is because they still do not know what is in it.

The 2,700-page bill was pushed through Congress late on Christmas Eve before anyone had the time to read it. Only now, after it has been passed and is about to be implemented, are we learning what is in the Act.

I have personally been proclaiming my opposition to any national health care plan since Hillary Clinton tried to get such a plan enacted during Bill Clinton’s presidency way back in 1993. At that time, I wrote Hillary Clinton a letter giving my reasons why the government should never have control over the health of the American people.

Then, when President Obama was trying to get The Affordable Health Care Act through Congress, I wrote President Obama a similar letter. You can download that letter here.

Why I Oppose Any Government-Run National Healthcare Plan

My body belongs to God! He purchased it with his own blood on the cross of Calvary:

“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you which ye have of God and ye are not your own. For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (Corinthians 6:19-20)

Friends, do you even remotely begin to realize the ramifications of AHCA?

If AHCA is fully enacted in 2014, government will take control of our bodies, requiring every American to secure health insurance whether they want it or not. It is a clear violation of the United States Constitution.  In fact, when AHCA was brought before the Supreme Court, the court ruled it unconstitutional!

Now prior to it going before the Supreme Court, President Obama promised the American people that AHCA was not a tax.  Yet that is exactly what the Supreme Court ruled it to be and thus, upheld it on that basis. The major group that will pay this new tax is the middle class; a group promised their taxes would not go up.

Our government has hired 1,600 Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents to hunt down those who do not purchase health insurance. I have personally not carried health insurance for the past 37 years because I have been taking responsibility for my own health by eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly!

Those opposed to me not purchasing health insurance say thatif a serious health issue was to arise, my expenses for treatment would be borne by the rest of society and that wouldn’t be fair. But I have personally paid all my health care costs these past 37 years with the money I have saved (over $150,000) by not carrying health insurance.

Even prior to the introduction of ACHA,  health insurance only paid the costs of treating sick people. Meanwhile, every year over 500,000 Americans die as a result of medical mistakes and prescription drugs! If government wants to get involved in restoring health to the American people, they need to teach the American people how to prevent sickness! This can only be accomplished by teaching the dangers inherent in the Standard American Diet, the cause of almost every physical problem experienced by people in America today.

People need to be taught the importance of a plant-based diet, a way to eat that truly nourishes the body and builds the immune system so that sickness need not be a threat. They need to know that every drug has an adverse effect on the body and complicates the healing. And they need to know that vaccinations are poisons that create more problems.

If government is going to require people to buy health insurance, it should only be required of those who neglect their bodies, not those who take care of their bodies and, as a result, don’t get sick.

Consider the following information, derived from The National Center for Public Policy Research in an article titled “No Free Lunch: The True Cost of ObamaCare” by Matt Patterson.

Higher PremiumsBillions in new taxes and fees would be imposed on health insurers and companies to pay for AHCA costs.  These taxes would be passed on to the consumer in the form of higher premiums.

Higher Taxes – Government cannot provide free or subsidized care for someone without taking money from someone else – and that someone else may be you. The Wall Street Journal puts it bluntly: AHCA will be paid for with “huge tax increases.”

How huge? According to Jeffrey H. Anderson, PhD, Senior Fellow of Health Care Studies at the Pacific Research Institute, one AHCA proposal would “raise taxes by $2.3 trillion” over the next two decades.

Lower Wages/Fewer Jobs – New taxes and fees imposed on businesses by AHCA would “discourage companies from hiring or continuing to employ low-income and moderate-income workers,” according to the Heritage Foundation. And it won’t just be low-income workers who see a smaller paycheck. According to FORTUNE magazine’s Shawn Tully, AHCA would lead to “a steep, shocking decrease” in the incomes of middle-class workers.

Standard of Living – The massive government spending required to finance national health care would explode the federal deficit with ruinous consequences for every American’s standard of living. According to the Congressional Budget Office, “Large budget deficits would reduce national saving, leading to more borrowing from abroad and less domestic investment, which in turn would depress income growth in the United States. Over time, the accumulation of debt would seriously harm the economy.”

Medicare BenefitsAHCA would pay for itself, in part, with hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicare and Medicare Advantage. But the Congressional Budget Office warns that cuts to Medicare Advantage “could lead many plans to limit the benefits they offer, raise their premiums, or withdraw from the program,” devastating seniors’ healthcare options.

The Wall Street Journal confirms, “cuts in Medicare’s price controls will cause many doctors to quit the program.”

Privacy – According to the Washington Examiner’s Byron York, AHCA would mean “an expanded and more intrusive IRS,” which would be empowered to target and punish violators of the new law. Additionally, an AHCA tax on employers would necessitate your boss knowing your family’s entire income from all sources, information which would then be shared with the insurance company.

Your FreedomThink you have the right to decide whether you even want insurance? Guess again. AHCA would require, under threat of penalty, that every American purchase insurance, fundamentally altering the relationship between citizen and state. As the Congressional Budget office puts it, AHCA “would establish a requirement for [legal U.S. residents] to obtain insurance and would in many cases impose a financial penalty on people who did not do so.”

So much for ‘land of the free.’

AHCA won’t save us money, nationally or individually. Instead, it will increase insurance premiums, raise taxes, depress wages, siphon jobs, explode the deficit, reduce our living standard, rob us of privacy and erode our personal liberty.

Next week, the good Lord willing and if the creeks don’t rise too high, we trust you will join us for another exciting issue of the Hallelujah Acres Health Tip.

Yes I am highly supporting the health care reform which is proposed by the President because it is very helpful for those who are suffering from different kind of illness. May be they might get a chance to get some kind of aids from the health professional. Off course for the rich people it doesn’t matter that they get a high quality advanced treatment all over the world, in the mean time if the health reform pass, “the rich people” are losing their huge profit what they are getting from the insurance now. That is the difference. Any ways it takes time but it will pass in the future any time.

    • Meazash is living on mushrooms. He has brain fog. Probably from drinking to much Obama Kool Aid. I think he may have one of those “different kind of illness”.

      • Bcarr2, why do you feel it necessary to personally attack Meazash1? Is your position that weak that all you can do is personally attack another poster????? So sad!

  2. if you are uninsured and have a medical condition requiring emergency care that you will not be booted out of the emergency department.

However, the 70-year-old stroke victim who needs physical therapy can’t get that in the ER.
Neither can the two-year-old who needs feeding therapy.
Or the 42-year-old woman who needs chemo for her breast cancer.
Or the 47-year-old man who needs insulin for his diabetes.
Or the 22-year-old who needs a Pap smear.
Or the 6-year-old who needs an influenza vaccine.

women with breast cancers eroding through their skin that could have been prevented by a lumpectomy four years earlier. women with cervical cancers who bled to death for want of a Pap smear and a simple office procedure 5 years earlier.”

Other countries have “Healthcare” systems, we have a “Health-Insurance” system.

In 2009, Americans spent $7,960 per person on health care. Our neighbors in Canada spent $4,808. The Germans spent $4,218. The French, $3,978. If we had the per-person costs of any of those countries, America’s deficits would vanish. Workers would have much more money in their pockets. Our economy would grow more quickly, as our exports would be more competitive.

…Americans are paying higher prices than residents of other developed countries. Usually, we’re paying quite a bit more.

In America, Medicare and Medicaid negotiate prices on behalf of their tens of millions of members and, not coincidentally, purchase care at a substantial markdown from the commercial average. But outside that, it’s a free-for-all. Providers largely charge what they can get away with, often offering different prices to different insurers, and an even higher price to the uninsured.

It is not like buying a television, where you can easily comparison shop and walk out of the store, and even forgo the purchase if it’s too expensive. And imagine what you would pay for a television if the salesmen at Best Buy knew that you couldn’t leave without making a purchase.

…sellers of health-care services in America have considerable power to set prices, and so they set them quite high. Two of the five most profitable industries in the United States — the pharmaceuticals industry and the medical device industry — sell health care. With margins of almost 20 percent, they beat out even the financial sector for sheer profitability.

    • Jay Lawrence October 16, 2012

you are living in the past. And very idealistic.

That’s the whole point. Everything you say is about to change drastically.

Obama’s plan has NOT been implemented yet. You are speaking of the way things ARE. That will change dramatically.

And BTW, Obama and others will always have an “out” for them that allows them to escape the consequences of the laws they pass down upon others. They ALWAYS exempt themselves.

      • What you say about the Affordable Care Act is not accurate. To make the transitiion easier and possible the Affordable Care Act has parts of it that take effect every year until it is complete which began in 2010. It was necessary so that the implimentation was smooth and possible. It would have been extremely difficult and probably impossible to implement all at once.

      • Jay, you really are uninformed as to the truth. Parts of the HCRA, CONGRESS plan, have been implemented, esp. those on Medicare have benefited greatly from it. More money in their pocketbook.
It is really sad so many people think like Jay, that is what the Rep party is counting on, the average 8th grade education believing everything they are told.
Too, if you want to call it something besides the HCRA, call it Congress Care, that is who created it, voted on it and is putting it into place. Wake up.

  3. Jay Lawrence October 16, 2012

My mother is in “assisted living”. She is fed the WORST diet imaginable, especially for a diabetic (deep fried everything, hydrogenated oil in the coffee creamer, sweets, and on and on). Rude staff barge into her room, do their “thing” quickly and brusquely because, after all, they “have a schedule to keep”.

The Obama bill has provisions for IRS audits, the confiscation of personal gold and silver, and prison for those who resist.

In Canada, people WITH HEART PROBLEMS can wait months for tests and die in the mean time. I hope everyone in the US gets used to the wait for services, the rude staff who will say, “just sit over there and wait for your name to be called”. And I hope we all enjoy sitting there waiting while we are sick. There will be no choice.

Doctors will leave medicine in droves. Why? Because they already have their bills cut often by 80% due to Medicare’s “approved prices”. They can absorb that because they have private pays and standard medical insurance. Once this debacle is implemented they will no longer have those sources to “pay the freight” and why should they continue to work for pennies on the dollar ?

With more and more people growing greatly obese and with the “food industry” focused and advertising on NOTHING other than “taste” (never nutrition) we will become a nation of sick consumers, riding our little carts around Walmart to purchase our China-made necessities because we’re too fat to even walk.

May the Lord forgive and rescue us from our own lazy stupidity.

Sorry Lord. Please forgive us. We should have done and should do better.

    • Growth55 October 16, 2012

WOW, people tell me they do exist that they are real, that some people actually think like JAY. jay get off of that recalcitrant thinking, there is no way any God will agree with you, well, except one, if you know what I mean.

    • Jay, look at Canada and England, their doctors seem completely happy practicing medicine there and their people are very happy with what they have for insurance. If you saw Michael Moore’s movie SICKO, un insured Americans went to Cuba and were treated for free under their national health insurance anf one person I can recall paid around $6 for a prescription that they paid over $100 for here. If Canada, Cuba, England, France and many more european countries have national health that their citizens openly support and really like, why not here in the US? The answer is simple. The insurance industry in this country is one of the most profitable of all industries, and they will spend BILLIONS, EVEN HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS TO STOP THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT COLD. All of the PROPAGANDA and MIS-INFORMATION AND EVEN OUT RIGHT LIES about the Affordable Care Act originates with the insurance industry in this country
Here is a quote from Wiki: “According to Sicko, almost fifty million Americans are uninsured while the remainder, who are covered, are often victims of insurance company fraud and red tape. Interviews are conducted with people who thought they had adequate coverage but were denied care. Former employees of insurance companies describe cost-cutting initiatives that give bonuses to insurance company physicians and others to find reasons for the company to avoid meeting the cost of medically necessary treatments for policy holders, and thus increase company profitability.”. This is documented and unfortunately becoming very common practice.
The problems like your HEART example happen much more in this country than it does in Canada many times because there are many more profit $$$$ for the American Insurance Company if they withhold treatment and many times to even let the patient die than if they paid for the treatment when it is requested by the doctor. NO AMOUNT OF MONEY CAN EQUAL EVEN the LIFE OF EVEN ONE PERSON, that is the morally correct guideline to follow,

    • “The Obama bill has provisions for IRS audits, the confiscation of personal gold and silver, and prison for those who resist. ”
First of all, OBAMA DIDN”T WRITE IT, CONGRESS DID!! You obviously have been buying into the fear mongers. So if that truly is in there, CONGRESS put it there. But I doubt it is. Do some research, I am sure you will find it is not true. Factcheck.org

  4. Rickheilman October 16, 2012

I think we should have National Health Care in this Country. As a Veteran, USN’ I am ashamed of our standing in the world. This country has become a Fascist State where the super rich run everything (with help from their puppets in Congress in both parties). I am disappointed in Obama because he is too much like G.W. Bush, the worst President ever.
Mitt Romney is the lying Poster Boy for the Ruling Class.

    Quality of life is everything.

  5. While I am totally on board with the Hallelujah Diet, this is not the only component of “health.” A fairly minor car accident could land you in the hospital for several days and require surgery, and your bills could easily be three times the $150,000 which you quoted. That’s a drop in the bucket if something actually catastrophic happens to you. You could fall while exercising and require a disk fusion (it happened to my brother). The bill for five days of hospitalization: $775,000. No amount of eating right and exercising can prevent these sorts of things. The concept of “personal responsibility” should compel you to purchase catastrophic health care coverage. The Scripture says that those who do not care for their own families are worse than an infidel.

  6. Whatzerface October 16, 2012

You, dear reverend, do not deserve the title you bear. To use yourself as an example ($150,000 which you paid), may I remind you sir that your salary comes from the generosity of those paying tithes to the church. It’s great that you were able to get an education which allows you to not have to do manual labor and that pays so well that you are able to pay for your own health care. What would you do if you had a catastrophic illness such as cancer or heart problems? Do you also have the hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay for that? I know that I have worked all of my life and I do not have that kind of money. I have paid taxes and so has my husband and my children who are also teachers.
Everyone in this country did and does not have the opportunities to which you were afforded. There are millions of poor people in this country who cannot afford health care or health insurance premiums. The ERs in hospitals do NOT have to take care of those who come through their doors. As a teacher, I know that for a fact as many of my students whose parents make minimum wage and have no health insurance have learned. So you don’t want the government making your health decisions?? Would you rather have some high school graduate or insurance company CEO making the decisions? Doesn’t the Bible and Jesus teach us that we are to be our brothers’ keepers? Or did I read that somewhere else? Maybe the Koran?? How nearsighted and selfish can you be? This is just one of the problems with Tea Party Republicans–self-serving beliefs and advice.

    • Rockiroze2009 October 16, 2012

Darling,#1 Reverend is a title God gives, not man. #2 Cancer & heart disease are products of poor nutrition choices. #3 Yes, the Bible does say that we are eachother’s keepers, that’s why HA does what it does!!! God bless your understanding & help you get rid of your bitterness. Jesus & His ways in all things is THE answer!!!

    • Bravo, very well said Watzerface. I to paid lots in income tax and Social Security and Medicare withholding and I began working a 16 and was employed until retirement. Take away Social Security and Medicare and you take away a benefit that I paid for in advance. The people I have great sympathy for are all those that worked for companies that corporate raider Mitt Romney bought, leveraged to the hilt, drained all the cash from, drained the retirement program money that workers had paid into for decades from, then ran what still remained of the company into the ground, took all that cash and pension funds and hid it overseas and then filed for bankruptcy and sold off the remaining assets. That in a nutshell if where just about ALL of the business experience Mitt Romney claims to have comes from. It is amazing how much information is available on the internet if you look long and deep enough. Is that the kind of experience that you want your President to have, or would you rather they had legitimate business instead of just corporate raider experience???

  7. Of all the comments on here I am amazed at people who do not take health seriously and continue to rely on Doctors for health. I agree about having something in case of tragic accident like wrecks, etc. Diseases is almost always not an accident. Theres a lot of people who would not choose to go the medical route even if disease occured because there is a better way. I pay for my insurance but others shouldnt be forced to buy anything. My insurance jumped over 30% as soon as the Affordable Care act was signed. Government takeover of anything will always be corrupt.

    • I imagine most private insurers raised rates right away. They need LOTS of money to pay politicans like Mitt to promise to repeal it and that costs MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS AND MAYBE BILLIONS OF $$$$. They also needed MILLIONS for propaganda ads to provide as much mis information as they could afford to buy to try to convince the American People the Affordaable Care Act was not good for the American People, it is good for the American People and mis information costs lots more than accurate information does so they need lots and lots of $$$$$. to make lies look like the truth.

  8. Tom Laskoskie October 16, 2012

You are right. we are in the land of freedom.

We are on Hallelujah diet, and my husband have hernia, the doctor told him you have to do operation quickly before while is small. Is there any other way? Let us know, Please

  9. Growth55 October 16, 2012

Reverend, ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….well is a waste of time.

  10. Revterry October 16, 2012

George, I wish you had stuck more to the issue of this being against scripture and unconstitutional. Although I agree with you on many of your other nutritional and political points, those other points mean nothing next to scripture and our constitution. Even if everyone in America of every possible religious persuasion made the poor decision to neglect their bodily health, government control of health care will still remain against God’s laws and our nation’s constitution as ratified. For these foundational reasons alone, we have an obligation to stand against Obamacare and any other attempt at the nationalization of healthcare. God is the owner of our bodies, we are the stewards of our bodies, and any attempt on the part of government to interfere means that the government is placing themselves above God, above our personal responsibility, and trampling on our constitutional rights, which includes religious liberty – the first and primary reason for the establishment this country.

    • Lessaper October 17, 2012

so you want a religious State, like arabic, muslim countries. The State and the Church should be separated. That’s the best situation. No matter what, like a christian, your relationship is with the Lord, and He the only one who should dictate your actions and choises, not the State. The State is there for everybody, not just for you and your believes. This is between you and the Lord. The State has the obligation to ensure religious freedom for everybody, no matter their believes. I grew up in a communist contry, but we could go to the church and worship the Lord. And they had religious freedom in the Constitution. They are millions of Christians around the world, living in non-christian countries and they don’t complain being in prison or even murdered…………..

  11. Girlwboots October 16, 2012

I am in complete agreement with National Health Care. We are supposed to be the richest nation in the world, but we cannot afford to provide every citizen with basic health care. The only problem with the current health care is that it is so watered down! Our politicians are in bed with the insurance companies and the AMA!

A person will always have the right to secure additional health insurance if they can or choose to afford it.

I have been impressed with your position on diet and health, but after reading the above article, I cannot support or recommend your company and will no longer suggest that my friends purchase products from you.

    • Salomebey66 October 17, 2012

Girlwboots I TOTALLY agree. I won’t recommend this site anymore.

    • 32saamap October 19, 2012

The saddest part of all this is that the taxpayers are paying our money for everyone else’s healthcare, and yes I am my brothers keeper but not when brother is able to work and is getting a free ride off me.

  12. I have spent a lot of time reading so I could better understand the Affordable Care Act. I have come to the exact opposite conclusion that Rev. Malkmus has. The single biggest beneficaries to the repeal of the Affordable Care Act will be Big Business, the HUGE Corporations that make up the VERY CASH RICH AND NOT CONSUMER FRIENDLY INSURANCE COMPANIES. The middle class, about 98% or so of the American People will see more and more noticable benefits with the Affordable Care Act as more and more of the Affordable Care Act takes effect and big business wants to get rid of the Affordable Care Act before that happens and the majority of the American People see exactly why and how much it will help them obtain better and less expensive health care and they are becoming desperate because as each next wave of the Affrdable Care Act takes effect the American Middle Class sees more and more things in it that benefit them and save them money.
The people that will not be hurt by the repeal of the Affordable Care Act are wealthy Americans because the extra cost of private insurance is of absolutely NO FINANCIAL BURDEN (cost yes, burden NO) TO THEM, UNLIKE THE OTHER 98% OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO WILL BE FORCED TO PAY OUT EXTRA MONEY THAT THEY CANNOT AFFORD TO SPEND PLUS BE AT THE MERCY OF INSURANCE COMPANIES WHO ARE WELL KNOWN FOR CUTTING BACK BENEFITS AND CANCELLING POLICIES OF VULNERABLE AMERICANS AND REFUSING TO COVER MANY TIMES THE LIFE SAVING PROCEDURES THAT THEY NEED TO LIVE. It is a well known fact that some insurance companies will delay expensive treatments until the patient becomes to ill for the treatment to help any more or they pass away because their insurance company has refused to cover the treatment and they did not have the financial resources to pay for it themselves so they could save their own life. This is not a concern for the wealthy who can afford to buy the cadillacs of health covreage that cover just about everything, unfortunally 98% of the American People do not have the financial resources to purchase this type of premium insurance coverage because it is usually very expensive.
If you are a member of what is called the American Middle Class, take the time to learn for yourself what is in the Affordable Care Act by reading it yourself or contact a Consumer Advocacy Organization so the information you will receive is accurate. The LAST place to look for information at is what is published in most newspapers or seen in commercials or from any elected offical that does not support the Affordable Care Act, or ANY study or information that has not come from an impartial source. As a general rule Consumer Advocacy Groups that are not funded by and do not accept donations from corporations or any of the extreme rights Super Pacs will usually be workiing for what will benefit most Americans, but it is always a good idea to check and verify at least some of what you are told so you are confident you can trust the rest of what you were told. The more you can personally verify, the more confident you will feel about what you were told. A good example of tainted information are infomercials or the movie that purports to have Democrats that voted for President Obama in 2008 and are now going to vote for Mitt Romney. For the most part those are actors reading a script they were paid, many times very well paid to read. I am just the opposite. I, have voted every year but two since 1974 and I voted Republican in every one of them, that is up untiil this year. This year I am voting just about and maybe exclusively Democratic for the very first time in my life. Why? Because many extremeists have taken over the Republican Party and are putting EXTREME pressure on any one running under or wanting their support of the Republican Party and are expected to vote 100% of the time along party lines under the threat of banishment and most or all of the time what they support is not good for America or the majority of the American People but usually does benefit the wealthy and Corporate America who are spending record amounts of money to get their candidates elected and effectively BUY THE LEGISLATION THEY WANT PASSED. Why all of a sudden are they spending so much money you ask. The Citizens United Decision allows them to do this for the first time, and spending they are, by now MANY BILLIONS OF $$$$$ with many more MILLIONS of $$$$$ being committed EVERY DAY.

  13. Estephenscpa October 17, 2012

Hey, Girlwboots….healthcare is not a right. Check the Constitution. Otherwise move to England.

  14. Wether you believe in government health care or not is not the most important issue for the upcoming election. Do you want a candidate that is for biblical marraige or gay unions? Do you want a President that will protect the unborn child or one who not only is for late term abortion but wants to use tax payers money to support the killing of the unborn child her and in other nations. If you profess to be a Christian you should be on the right side of moral issues like these.

    • So it is okay for a professed “cult” member to have multiple wives? I would much rather have a professed Christian in office than a Mormon. We are not to judge whether someone is truly a Christian or not, but we know that Mormonism is not Christian.

    • healthnutmamma October 23, 2012

The “right side” in this case, happens to be the left. Not only do many people NOT share your stance on these issues, but they are offended by your close-minded discrimination and lack of compassion and seeming ignorance.

  15. Lessaper October 17, 2012

I don’t live in USA, so I am not sure that people know 100% what the new health act acctually says, word by word. I am from an ex comunist contry in Europe, the state were in charge with our health, because in order to get the right medical care, and for the doctors to respect your rights and to take good care of you, some laws are necessary, and only the goverment makes the laws equals for everybody, we all have the right to fare tratement like nation no matter who I am. That’s why we need laws, to avoid anarchy. I don’t imply that communism is perfect, but at least we had free education, health care and were safe on the streets, and that because the goverment decided to do so. It seems to me that large number of americans don’t want their goverment involved in anything, everybody wants to do what they want , to have guns and use them the way they want, everybody has rights (sometimes to do wrong) but no obligations or responsibilities. The goverment has the obligation to ensure the welfare of the population, that why it is there, to make sure that the laws are respected by everybody, that the nation is well educated, provided with good and afordable helth care andbe safe to walk free on the streets, well this is not happening in USA right now, and that because people don’t want the goverment to do so. This doesn’t mean democracy and freedom, is looks more like anarchy to me.
What is the role of the goverment after all in your country, just make sure that they send millions of marines to kill and be killed abrod? For nothing? Since the coreean war till now, they didn’t change anything in the world. For the non- americans this is the only responsibility your goverment has. You vote and financialy suport your governers and presidents, and they have the oblgation to ensure that they make good and fare laws for everybody, and make sure that everybody respect those laws.

Taking care of your health is your own decision and souldn’t impact anything and anybody. Back home we had a lot of choises, medical treatement, homeopathie, or other things, other that medical. Nobody was arresting us for not using what the goverment offered us.
Giving birth, surgeris, and a multitude of other things for which you pay millions were 100% free of charge.

  16. Tom Dumas October 17, 2012

    Well said my friend.

  17. A friend sent me the link for this article and I see the flaws and misinformation right away. Seniors have been benefiting from the HCRA for two years now. If you hit the famed “donut hole” you are not ONLY PAYING 50% for the cost of most Brand names. Prior to the HCRA you PAID 100%. If it were repealed, you would go back to paying 100%. So now do you think it’s a bad thing. Saved seniors thousands of dollars and will continue to do so as the hole is closed up and done away with. BTW, it was created under the Bush Admin. and benefits no one but the insurance companies. In addition, Medicare and health plans now cover preventative at first dollar. BEFORE IT WAS NOT COVERED! So once again, seniors have greatly benefited from it. I brought this up to a friend who was speaking out against it and once they realized repeal would hit them in the pocket book, they changed their mind.
IT IS NOT GOING AWAY REGARDLESS OF WHO IS PRESIDENT! Only Congress, who created it, can make it go away. Any certainly don’t want a voucher system, it didn’t work for education and it won’t work for health care. Wake up people and look outside your own little world. You shouldn’t be looking to help others anyway if you are a Christian.
Let’s stop the nasty comments too, they for the most part are coming from the right side of the political arena, rarely the left. That speaks volumes for character or lack of.

To people who do not want to give any help to sick people: Who is going to help you, when you need something important? The Government cannot please everyone. Government leaders have to make compromises. The more we help each other, the less that Government needs to help us. If you don’t want to help sick people now, maybe you would think differently if you were in a tornado or earthquake or oil spill. Christ spent a lot of time with the poor and sick. Can we do more volunteering in soup kitchens, hospitals, and “John 3:16” missions? Is our freedom for being selfish, or for caring about people? Veterans, who sacrificed their lives and health to give us choices, need our help when they are too sick or injured to help themselves. It is the Government which has the facilities to help veterans, so please stop complaining about Government, and pitch in, and lend a hand. Thank you.

  19. It’s great that you can pay for your own personal medical care, but the majority of the people who don’t have insurance can not. That means that people like me who already pay for health insurance pay higher premiums to cover the costs of those who don’t pay. Your statement, “People who take care of their bodies don’t get sick” is just not true. I was born with polycystic kidney disease. Cysts grow on my kidneys because of a gene that was passed from my father to me. I eat a plant based diet. However, I still have to take blood pressure pills because the cysts push against my arteries which sends a signal to my brain to increase my blood pressure. Eating a plant based diet and exercise has not and cannot reduce my blood pressure. I do hope it keeps my kidneys functioning normally though. Because of AHA, if I were to lose my job and had to get health insurance on my own, I would not get turned away for a pre-existing condition. I’ve already been denied long-term care insurance because of the disease, so I’m sure if not for AHA I would have a heck of a time trying to get health insurance on my own. While I still think there is room for improvement in AHA, I think it’s a start, and nothing says it can’t be tweaked as we go. Also, if your organization is a 501(c)(3), you may want to run your political commentary by your accountant to make sure you’re in compliance with the 501(c)(3) rules regarding politics.

Although I respect and admire Rev. Malkmus, I disagree with his position on the Affordable Health Care Act. Not his position for himself, but his position for everyone else. Each person has their own opinion and different circumstances. Although the Rev. has saved thousands of dollars, others have not for numerous reasons. I respect everyone’s opinion to choose, or not to choose Health Care but for those who need it, or want it, they should have the right to have it and not be excluded. If the rest of us have to help with bearing the cost in some instances, so be it. People should not be rejected for health care because they are poor. I don’t have this coverage myself because I have other coverage that I thank God for. However, I also thank God that those people who need or want this coverage have the right to sign up for it. Over 8 million people signed up for this health care and I’m happy they have it. Over time the kinks will be worked out.

I worked for the federal government over 43 years, until recently. Medicare is a government run program implemented during the mid 1960’s but there were no complaints about that as compared to the AHCA. I know becuause I worked helping people sign up for Medicare for quite some time before many, many problems were worked out over many years. It seems this country has gone too far to assist the wealthy, including doctors who seem to know very little about nutrition anyway, and not have any compassion or concern for the less fortunate. I believe we are our brothers’ keepers.
