The World’s Diet Is Dangerously High In Cooked Food

For the past seven weeks, we have been sharing the reasons why the ‘World’s Diet’ is such a dangerous diet.

In this Health Tip we are going to examine another danger found in the World’s Diet, a danger so subtle most would never consider it suspect: cooked food.

The Sun – Both A Sustainer & Destroyer of Life

“The Dangers of Cooked Food” begin in Genesis chapter 1. From this chapter I want to glean a few nuggets that will help lay the groundwork for what will follow.

On the third day of creation, in Genesis 1:9-10, we read how God created the earth. In the following verses, verses 11-13, we read how God created the fruits and vegetables, seeds and nuts, the very foods God designed our physical bodies to be nourished with and to thrive upon:

“AND GOD SAID, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb [vegetable] yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb [vegetable] yielding seed after his kind; and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.”

Without a source of light and heat, plant life could not be sustained. So, the very next day, on Day 4, God creates the sun and the moon to provide light and heat to sustain the plant life He had created the day before:

AND GOD SAID, Let there be light in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so, And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:14-17)

Have You Ever Thought About This?

If the earth was in an orbit that was only slightly closer to the sun, or if the earth’s circumference was only slightly greater, the earth would not be able to sustain LIFE. Why? Because the heat from the sun would destroy all plant, animal, and human forms of life.

Conversely, if the earth was in an orbit only slightly further from the sun, or if the earth’s circumference was only slightly less, the earth would not be able to sustain the plant, animal, and human life God had created. Why? Because everything would freeze to death!

Let’s look at a few other verses revealing the awesome wisdom of our God:

“ . . . All things were created by Him, and for Him: and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.”
Colossians 1:16-17

“Nevertheless He left not Himself without witness, in that He did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and the fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”
Acts 14:17

Could All This Have Happened By Chance?

How anyone could believe that all this precision happened just by chance, as those who teach and believe in evolution proclaim, is beyond my comprehension.

No my friend, it was God who hung the earth in just the exact place in the universe so that the earth could support plant, animal, and yes human LIFE!

No other planet or star has this precise placement in the universe!

Sadly, man has wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on space exploration in an effort to find life on other planets, but without success. Nor will man ever find life on another planet, because the Bible tells us in Genesis 3:20 that Eve is “the mother of all living.”

How High Temperatures Affect Life

Have you ever considered the affect high temperatures have upon the human physical body?

For instance, if a person has a fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit, do we not become concerned? Of course we do! But what if the temperature goes up to 106 degrees? Do we not at that temperature become extremely concerned? Why?

Because when the internal temperature of the human physical body reaches 107 degrees, brain cells begin to scramble and die, and by the time the internal temperature reaches 108 degrees, the person is usually dead.

High temperatures have a very devastating effect on the very life of the human physical body!

How High Temperatures Affect Our Food

High temperatures also affect the life of the foods we eat.

For instance, at approximately 107 degrees Fahrenheit, the enzymes — which are the life force found in raw fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts — begin to break down, and by 122 degrees that food has become a dead food, devoid of ALL life forms.

Yet, before most of the foods we eat today are consumed, they are heated to high temperatures. For instance, the temperature of boiling water is 212 degrees Fahrenheit; the temperature of steam is also 212 degrees; while the temperature of a slow oven begins at about 225 or 250 degrees.

All packaged, canned, or bottled foods found on the grocery store shelf have been exposed to high heat to destroy the enzymes (life force) so that the food will not spoil.

Pasteurized milk is heated to 160 degrees, while all bottled fruit and vegetable juices receive similar heating. Even frozen vegetables have been blanched in very hot water to destroy any form of life.

Living Bodies Need Living Foods

The physical body we each possess is a living organism, comprised of living cells, designed by God to be nourished with living food. All cooked food is dead food and therefore incapable of properly nourishing living cells.

When we look to nature, every animal in the wild – carnivorous or vegetarian – eats its food raw (in an uncooked form) just as God designed and they thrive. Only man takes living food (which God provides in its raw state in nature) and cooks it. Doing so destroys its life force, and thus its ability to properly nourish the living, human body.

All the foods Adam and Eve consumed in the Garden of Eden were in their raw, uncooked, living form.

How Heat Destroys Life: A Home Experiment

It is not difficult to prove that high heat destroys the life forms found in raw fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. Here is a little experiment you can perform in your own home:

  1. Go to the store and purchase five raw carrots.
  2. At home, cut off about ½ an inch below the stem end, place it in a shallow basin of water, and watch it grow. (And, yes it will grow because its life force has not been destroyed by high heat.)
  3. Next take the remaining four raw carrots and cook each one by a different means: boil one, steam one, bake one, and microwave one.
  4. Take each cooked carrot out of its heat source; cut off ½ inch from the stem end of each; place them in a shallow basin of water and watch them grow(?).

Will they grow? Of course not! Why not?

Because the high temperatures of cooking them have destroyed all enzymes or life force.

Dr. Pottenger’s Research

One of the best known studies regarding the effects of high heat upon foods was a 10-year research project conducted by Dr. Francis M. Pottenger, Jr. His study was published in 1945 in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Oral Surgery.

Dr. Pottenger took 900 cats and fed all the same foods for nine years, the only difference being that he divided the cats into two groups. One group was given their food in its raw and uncooked form, while the other group received cooked form.

The results dramatically revealed the damaging effect cooking has upon food.

The cats that were fed their food raw, in its living form, produced healthy kittens year after year, with no ill health, birthing defects, or premature deaths.

While the cats fed the same food only cooked, developed heart disease, cancer, kidney and thyroid disease, pneumonia, paralysis, loss of teeth, arthritis, birthing difficulties, diminished sexual interest, diarrhea, irritability, liver problems, osteoporosis, and more (the same diseases common in our present day human cooked food culture).

Also, the first generation of kittens fed cooked food was sick and abnormal, the second generation was often born diseased or dead, and by the third generation, the mothers were sterile.

Humans Are Now Experiencing Dr. Pottenger’s Cat Experiment

Sadly, many of the results Dr. Pottenger observed in his cat experiments are being experienced today in our human population.

For instance, with each succeeding generation of cats fed exclusively cooked food, fewer and fewer were able to produce offspring. The Standard American Diet consumed today consists of almost totally cooked foods. Could this be the reason some 40% of young adults cannot conceive?

When I was a child back in the 1930s the only people I remember having arthritis were the elderly who often needed a cane or walking stick to assist them in walking. Today, arthritis is not just an affliction of the elderly, but an ever increasing number of children are being diagnosed with juvenile arthritis.

Diabetes used to be a disease of the elderly and unheard of in children, but today juvenile diabetes is epidemic. When I was a child, cancer was something that only the elderly experienced, but today, after accidents, cancer is the number one cause of death among the youth of our country.

What Is Going On?

Why are our young people experiencing serious degenerative diseases at an ever-earlier age?

And why are an ever increasing number of our young adults unable to produce offspring?

Might the cooking of almost all the foods being consumed today be a major part of the problem?

For a moment, let’s go back to Dr. Pottenger’s experiment with the cats and see what we can learn: The longer the cats were fed a completely cooked food diet, the sooner they experienced physical breakdown.

The Standard American Diet (SAD) being consumed today is predominantly a cooked food diet, and thus lacking the necessary life force and living building materials necessary to produce and maintain vibrant, human life.

This editor contends that one of the primary reasons for human physical breakdown in all ages is the same reason the cats experienced these breakdowns in Dr. Pottenger’s cat experiment – a diet comprised almost totally of cooked food.

Today, the average person in America, as well as those in most countries around the world, is consuming a primarily dead food diet.

The Standard American Diet, loaded with all kinds of chemical additives, fails to provide the physical body with the building materials necessary to sustain a vibrantly alive and healthy physical body.

God Had It Right

God Himself gave Adam and Eve the ideal human diet in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1:29). Were it not for sin, that diet was intended to properly nourish Adam’s and Eve’s physical bodies and keep them thriving forever. “. . . . lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.” (Genesis 3:22)

Although it is no longer possible to live forever in these physical bodies we possess, we can extend our life on earth in a healthy manner by taking advantage of God’s instructions in Genesis 1:29 — eating a primarily raw, living foods, 100%-plant based diet.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2


I was raised on (and lived the first 42 years of my life on) an almost 100% cooked food diet.

As a result, I suffered all manner of physical breakdown and was told I had colon cancer at age 42.

Cancer was my wake-up call. It caused me to seek an alternative to the traditional cancer treatments that had killed my mom.

In my search for an alternative means of overcoming my cancer, I turned to Evangelist Lester Roloff who encouraged me to consume exclusively the raw plant foods found in God’s Genesis 1:29 diet and to drink a lot of raw, unprocessed carrot juice. That change in diet from a dead food diet to a living foods diet saved my life and totally changed my life.

For the past 36 years, on a predominantly living foods, raw, plant-based diet, my body has thrived. I haven’t had a cold or the flu since making the diet change and now, just two years shy of my 80th birthday, I am only five years from outliving the most senior person in my known ancestral line.

NOTE: When I first made the diet change, I went 100% raw for the first year, but personal experience and the testimonies from hundreds of others who had a problem with 100% raw has caused me to now discourage a 100% raw plant source diet. My diet today, and for the past 35 years, has consisted of approximately 85% raw plant sourced foods and about 15% cooked plant sourced foods. I have learned that, though that original Genesis 1:29 diet was 100% raw, for many reasons most people can stick to a plant-based diet easier when they cook 15% of the food.

    I have a question with how you deal with the verses in Genesis after the flood where God specifically gives permission for consumption of meat? I would like to know your response to that. Thanks!

      Hi Amy,
      if you have a child then this is easier to understand. First, you tell your child what you want him or her to do. When your kid apparently does not want to obey that, then you are inclined to say: If you are not going to obey me on that THEN AT LEAST don’t do this (to keep as much harm as possible still from the child).
      — The Israelites asked for a king and God permitted it to teach them a lesson.

      I lately gave into temptation and ate a few times in the last 2 weeks some cooked animal protein and excess cooked grain products against my better judgment gained from past painful experiences. And shortly after the results were:
      a stopped-up nose and sinus problems, dripping clear liquid from my nose, constipation, my left knee started to hurt again, my right hand’s joints went from limber to locked-up and numbness of the 3 middle fingers of this right hand also, a bloated stomach and a heavy feeling from too much cooked food, too.

      The above made me look like a hypocrite and also interfered with my spiritual life since I needed more sleep and missed out on bible study.

      Rom.14:21 says:”It is better NOT to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause our brother to fall.

  2. I have a simular question to the previous question about eating meat. Jesus himself ate fish. Many of the deciples were fishermen. They also prepared these fish over a fire. And, we all know the benefits of fish oil. Could a vegitarian lifestyle be as good as a vegan lifestyle?

      Hi Scott,

      from my personal experiences over the last almost 30 years I can say that in my case it is a clear no.

      When I added cheese while on vacation with the evening meal I usually got a stopped-up nose right away or at the latest that night as well as arthritic locked-up right hand and wrist, bloating, and constipation.

      Eggs do not cause me sinus discomfort as dairy products do, but they also constipate me and give me that heavy feeling.

      The above have been the exception to the rule and

      the rule I have stuck to for most of these 25 – 30 years has been: 3-4 cups of freshly made juice (carrot, beet, cucumber, apple, peeled lemon, parsley most of the time and other variations of juice) in the morning as my breakfast with some destilled water later and a piece of fresh juicy fruit (sometimes after a hard 1-hr or more exercise routine).
      For lunch: A large salad with 1/2 avocado and flaxseed oil in the dressing.

      Mid-afternoon freshly made juice again (when I just had a Commercial Champion juicer and the juice did not keep so long) or an apple with celery or a hand-squeezed lemonade with BarleyMax and liquid Stevia added.

      Evening: Different salad ingredients (tonight here in Germany on vacation again it was: chopped-up celery, cabbage, tomato, onion with the juice of one lemon added to vegan living pesto from a glass jar as dressing). Later in the evening I had a pear or most of the time I will have a banana to aid good sleep.


      You try and choose which way you feel best.

      I think God created all we needed first, then us and then told us in Genesis 1:29 ((“Then God said (= Jesus as God’s Word)”I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.”) what to eat out of love for us so that our physical body, the temple of the Holy Spirit, could function perfectly as it was designed by God.

      But the remainder of the bible is devoted to the spiritual and any food, if given thanks to God, (if I understood the Scriptures right – and please correct me if I misunderstood in love) will not keep me out of heaven, but over time can cause me physical suffering (and agony to my family to see me hurting), overspending money (which could have been used for the needy) and not be able to preach the GOOD NEWS and dying pre-maturely leaving kids and a wife without a father and husband.

      So test it for yourself and choose.

      And with me I must pray to not overeat on anything out of really being tired or emotionally upset about something with the need for rest and prayer on how to solve an issue rather than trying to numb myself with food.

    Amy and Scott,
    If you go back and read in Deuteronomy where the Israelites cried out to eat meat, you’ll find a list of “clean animals” that were acceptable to eat. Also, remember “meat” means food in the Bible in many places. You might want to look at it from a different point of view. Adam lived 930 yrs; after the Israelites began eating flesh, the life expectancy decreased. Moses was 120 yrs old when he died, Abraham 175 yrs when he died and life expectancy from then on decreased down through the ages until “modern medicine” found a way to bring our life expectancy up to some where in the ripe old age 70’s now I think. That is a far cry from even 120 yrs. I too questioned the “fish” part of this since Jesus and the Apostles ate fish which would suggest that it is okay to do. Every wonder why Jewish people don’t eat certain foods like “pork” and require Kosher foods? That is the reason and in Jesus’ day, they were doing the same thing – avoiding unclean animals and animals that were used in sacrifices to Pagan Gods.
    Our food supply today is not as dense in nutrients as it once was even 50 yrs ago especially if you are not eating organic foods. Fish does supply essential fatty acids like Omega 3, but you can accomplish the same thing with ground Flax seeds (also great for fiber and has lingans which protect women from breast cancer) or you can eat avocados and raw soaked walnuts. All nuts should be soaked and raw to release the enteric coating and make digestion easier. An all plant based diet does provide everything to sustain and support human life especially when you include sea based vegetables for iodine and B 12 (spirilina). Hope this info helps.     Thanks for your information. I am on a limited income. Can you suggest what I can eat without going over budget? Sometimes I have to eat some canned food, ex. greens and tomato soup and packaged steamed vegatables. I have given up eating meat, fried foods I eat Ezikial Bread and sometimes because I crave it for some reason or other Corn Bread. I gave up white bread, rice, potatoes, fried foods, sugars. I do eat something sweet at times as I crave it. I eat a limited amount. I am diabetic. Is corn bread bad if eaten at times? . I had cancer removed from my breast in Sept. Oncologist wanted me to have chemo. I refused as it kills good cells and immune system. It is posion. Then they want to burn with radiation. I thought that would not be bad as it would burn out the left behind cancer cells. I was later told that a part of my thyroid would be radiated. Not good. Why, is there not a preventative cure. Treatments for breast cancer are barbaric I cannot do all that I need to do because of a limited income. I do order the Barley Max and take it daily. How do I make smart decisions? I do not want the cancer to return. I need to exercise more. Is 3 x a week for 30 mins. enough? . Judy

      Hi Judy,
      My heart and prayers go out to you and I so understand the choices you need to make in your life. May I remind you that eating a little fresh organic raw fruits and vegetables along with seeds and nuts will provide nourishment for your body and anything cooked or canned will not – it is dead! Think of your body as a plant that needs good soil (food) fertilizer (lots of exercise and at least 8 glasses of water a day) and sunshine (getting out in the literal sunshine as often as possible). Eating one healthy meal a day is better than eating three with no nutrients. Also, adding fiber to your diet in the form of ground flax seeds (very inexpensive) will not only make you feel full, but will push the toxins out and clean your colon which is where 80% of your immune system lives. Exercising for more than 30 minutes a day will help keep your lymphatic system in good condition. Your lymph system is the garbage truck that goes throughout the body and cleans up the trash so it is critical to keep it moving and exercise, jumping on a mini trampoline or reclining on a recline bench with your head lower than you feet will also help. Your lymphatic system has one way values that are closed and do not open unless you are very active and do what I mentioned.   7. The Seven Day Adventist are known to be the healthiest people in the world and they eat a cook mainly plant based diet with lots of soy, something is not adding up here.
