State Inspector: Fried Nuggets Healthier Than Turkey Sandwich

The following appeared in the church bulletin where Rhonda and I attended church this past Sunday. It is written by “Pastor Mark”:

I am sure that most of you have heard about the instance that took place in West Hoke Elementary School in North Carolina. Basically, what happened is that a state agent was inspecting lunch boxes to see if the children’s lunches met The Department of Agriculture guidelines.

Child’s lunch box: Turkey & cheese sandwich, banana, chips, and apple juice.

State meal: Chicken nuggets with dipping sauce, watermelon, corn, squash, muffin, and milk.

The result was that the child’s packed lunch was removed and the state lunch was given to the child. In addition, the parent was charged for the meal.

We see once again how things in this nation are out of control. The reality is that nobody wants to deal with the real issues. It should bother all of us that a child’s lunch box has more laws to protect it than an unborn baby does.

Most people with common sense understand that this story about a child’s lunch is ridiculous. I think all of us would agree that a turkey sandwich is healthier than fried chicken nuggets.

I realize some will ask, “Don’t we need to do something about the obesity of our children?” It seems to me we are missing the point.

It is not just about the obesity issue, it is about the ability to make good sound decisions. When a child’s lunch garners more moral outrage than the killing of an unborn, our ability to make decisions is broken.

Personally, I think children ought to have P.E. (physical education) and be provided healthy meals, but it needs to go beyond that. They need stable families. Dads and Moms need to turn off the TV’s, X-boxes, video games, computers, etc. and interact with their children. That interaction involves activities from playing catch outside, to saying their prayers together before they go to sleep at night.

Perhaps the story would not have made national headlines if the lunch box had been filled with junk food. Unfortunately, the only thing filled with junk is the government inspector’s head to think chicken nuggets are healthier than a turkey sandwich.

Editor’s Note:

Friends, this is what happens when government oversteps their bounds and mandates how we should care for our bodies. There should never be a day when the government dictates that we should eat chicken nuggets.

This type of control by government is why I’m opposed to National Health Care. If fully implemented, the government will have legal authority to take total charge of your body and the bodies of every member of your family from the cradle to the grave. In addition, you will lose your ability to choose what is best for you and your family as far as what you can and cannot eat and how physical problems can be addressed.

There has never been a greater threat to the freedoms our founding fathers gave their treasure and some even their very lives to establish for those who would follow them.

You can learn the impact National Health Care will have on your health freedoms by clicking here.

And those interested in knowing the ingredients in McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets (similar to the nuggets referred to in Pastor Mark’s story) can click here.

I have no doubt, if National Health Care is ever fully implemented, God’s original diet would be outlawed by these government inspectors as not being healthy.

God says: “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God . . . .” (I Corinthians 6:19)

  1. This is why governement should stay out of our decisions for our kids. Wake up people!!

Absolutely! I think being vegan for health is the epitome of taking responsibility for your own health and well being and makes a very strong statement about not relying on the government to “take care of us” for anything…our health care, education, etc. You will only lose more freedoms, like what to feed your child. I would be furious if they took my child’s vegan lunch away and then made me pay for their fried nuggets. We’ve been vegan 5 years. We rarely get sick now and husband is off all cholesterol and BP medication, so we have managed to reduce our health care costs all on our own.

I am so disappointed to read this article. Wow. Fear mongering about a national health care plan by declaring that our kids’ lunches will be dictated if a national plan is supported is both unfounded and ridiculous. I have always bought products from your company and believe whole heartedly in a natural food diet. I ALSO believe that it’s about people making THEIR OWN decisions, using God’s rule of free will combined with the FREEDOMS we enjoy in this country. Americans should be able to pack a turkey sandwich, Americans should have access to healthcare (All of us), Americans should get to make their own decisions about their bodies. It’s all between each individual and God. That is what this country was founded upon; freedom of choice. You cant pick and choose in what parst of people’s lives or anatomy you want govt to be involved. It’s each American’s responsibility to make good decisions. I suggest strongly that we all start by actually READING and learning about proposed policies.

    • Rachel, it would be wrong to fear monger if in fact the news story was not true. Sadly, it is. And there is reason to fear an over-energetic government.

We definitely need to be discerning and know, without a shadow of a doubt, how the government is intruding into our lives………….keep our eyes and ears open. By being in public schools our children are and can be “poisoned” by governmental tactics which we may not even know about early on. THIS IS a very serious situation and we alllllll should take action against such actions. Let’s get behind the parents of this child and tell the government to stay out of our lives. Quite possibly, because it is a g.p.s…………government public school, they will one day say they have the right to mandate anything and everything that goes on inside and outdoor property. America, wake up, watch and listen then take action in large numbers. Our precious children are at the hands of the government. We are still and always will be the parents of our children and we must not let the government dictate to us their liberal and foolish ideals/tactics.

  4. This is another example of why the Parental Rights Amendment is important. The government should not be making decisions like these for our children.

  5. AMEN!

It is alarming to me that this inspector even considered it lawful to take the child’s lunch away to give what the school provided instead! That sounds like something that would happen in totalitarian or communist country.

  7. What if that child had any serious food allergies?! Government officials need to stop sticking their big officious noses into other people’s business. Let’s get rid of big government?
