These issues are all linked to poor digestion, and logic would suggest a correlation between diseases like cancer and poor digestion too. With so many dealing with all of these issues it appears that for many their digestive systems are functioning less than optimally. Is this you? What is Digestion? Digestion is the complex process of turning the food you eat into the energy you need to survive and thrive. The digestive process starts in the mouth and ends in the anus. Stop 1: The Mouth The mouth is the beginning of the digestion process. Before food ever passes the lips, digestive enzymes are produced through saliva from just the smell of the food. The release of saliva increases with the first bite. The more the food is chewed, the more saliva released. This saliva is mixed with the food helping to break it down. Ideally, each bite is chewed 30 to 50 times ensuring that the food is properly broken down and mixed with the ideal amount of enzymes. When the food is swallowed, it is transported through the Pharynx and Esophagus to the stomach. Stop 2: The Stomach: Upon arrival in the stomach, the food is mixed with acid and powerful enzymes that turns the food into a liquid or paste. This is where most of the digestion takes place. Stop 3: The Small Intestine: Some digestion continues in the small intestine. The primary function of the small intestine though is to absorb the nutrients through the cell walls and into the blood stream and throughout the body. What is leftover from this process is moved through the large intestine as waste. Stop 4: The Colon, Rectum and Anus: These muscles prepare the waste for elimination from the body. It typically takes 36 hours for stool to get through the colon. Since good digestion is such an important part of maintaining health, we need to ensure that all of the elements necessary to properly break down the food is readily available. This allows for maximum extraction of the nutrients through the walls of the small intestine. Simple Solution While poor digestion significantly impacts your health the solution doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Simple supplementation can play a critical role in optimizing your digestive system resulting at more nutrition to the cells and improved health. Oral Health Probiotics were designed to ensure that digestion gets off to a good start in your mouth – the gateway to the rest of your digestive system. Using a specially selected probiotic formula, Oral Health Probiotics pave the way for good digestion to take place. Oral Health Probiotics also help to stop bad bacteria from forming in your mouth assisting in the prevention of cavities and gum disease; two contributors to other issues such as heart disease, insulin resistance, and arthritis. Digestive Enzymes – Consuming additional “live” enzymes at the beginning of a meal is a great way to kick start the process.Digestive enzymes help improve poor digestion and the absorption of nutrients from the foods we eat. If you eat cooked or processed foods, most of the enzymes in those foods are essentially destroyed, so it is especially important for you to take a additional “living” enzymes, to support digestive health in the body. Additionally, taking digestive enzymes with raw foods and juices will help the body assimilate more nutrients. Stomach Acid – Hydrochloride Acid (HCL) Individuals suffering with stomach and intestinal problems most frequently assume that heartburn, indigestion, gas, and reflux are caused by overproduction of stomach acid. This common misconception has been strongly re-enforced by the media and common use of stomach acid blocking drugs. Hydrochloric acid serves many functions. The two most important are:
  1. It is the primary digestive juice responsible for breaking down proteins, preparing them for assimilation.
  2. It acts as a protective barrier, killing many potentially harmful micro-organisms in our food.
Based upon the testing of sample groups, it has been theorized that well over half of the U.S. population beyond the age of fifty years is under-producing hydrochloric acid on a constant basis, leading to a host of digestive and immune disturbances. One need not be of middle age though to have this problem. It's common in younger persons as well. Basically, anyone dealing with a physical problem most likely has an underperforming digestive system. These products, when combined together, put the elements in place to significantly enhance the digestive system. Whether trying to overcome or prevent a serious illness, they help the body absorb more of the nutrients from the foods consumed building a better defense against sickness and disease.
