There are several issues that we can work on preventing thorough eating properly and drinking enough water. Hydration is one of those things. If you’re dehydrated, there are certain lifestyle changes that you can make to help fight this issue. Because of how easy this is to do, we’ve put together a list of foods that fight dehydration for you.

Foods That Fight Dehydration

The first thing to know about foods that fight dehydration is that many raw foods naturally contain large amounts of water. This doesn’t make them very beneficial for calories, but it does help them to help you rehydrate after a hot day or even if you’re just not drinking enough each day.

  • Watermelon – this is a great option for fighting dehydration. As you can tell by the name, this fruit is made up of 92% of water. That makes this juicy and tasty food a perfect option for a hot summer day or when you’re noticing some effects of dehydration. It can also help heart health and reduce inflammation, so add it to your diet regularly.
  • Cucumbers – is there anything tastier than a good cucumber salad? We don’t think so, but more than just a tasty snack, cucumbers are a great way to get hydrated. They have high water content and contain many vitamins and minerals. They also are a great necessity to a raw food diet, so you may as well eat up!
  • Celery – this veggie is made up of 95% water, which makes it a very low-calorie snack, as well as something you can go to after a day outside in the heat or after physical exertion. It will help you regain some of that necessary hydration.
  • Blackberries – nothing beats this fruit as a tasty snack or even an addition to an almond milk smoothie. Not only is it a nice and juicy option, it’s also loaded with water, which means it’s perfect for eating while a bit dehydrated.
  • Iceberg lettuce – while nutritionists will argue the benefit of this type of lettuce, there is no doubt that it’s a beneficial option if you’re dehydrated. While there isn’t much nutritional benefit to this leafy green, it is essentially 96% water, and also has a nice neutral taste.
  • Broths – broths are generally known to be largely water, around 92%, which makes them a great addition if you’re dehydrated. Whether you have gotten sick and are trying to stay hydrated or you are simply trying to live a healthier lifestyle, adding a simple broth to your diet is a great way to stay hydrated.
  • Radishes – you may not know it just from looking at it, but radishes are surprisingly high in their water content. This is a healthy crunchy addition to a salad and can help you up your water intake.
  • Carrots – maybe you knew this one, maybe not, but another crunchy snack you can enjoy is also high in water. Carrots are an extremely popular vegetable and go great as an afternoon snack, with other vegetables in a dish, and even dipped in hummus.
  • Spinach – another leafy green has made the cut in our list of hydrating foods. It is considered extremely healthy for numerous reasons, without even factoring in the hydration factor. Be sure to add this to smoothies or even enjoy it as a fresh spinach salad.
  • Grapefruit – this is a delicious fruit to have on its own or juiced. Like most fruits, it has a higher water content, which means it’s another great option for staying hydrated.

As you can see, there are plenty of choices when it comes to hydrating foods. Find the best fit for your needs and tastes and add it to your diet for extra hydration.
