The Many Benefits Of Warm Living Spiced Apple Cider

Apple cider doesn’t just taste good – drinking it can come with numerous health benefits, too. Apple cider has several vitamins and minerals, including calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin A, and vitamin C. The tasty beverage also contains polyphenols, which are plant compounds that act as antioxidants. They help lower your risk of diabetes, heart disease, and some types of cancer. While apple cider doesn’t have the same concentration of polyphenols as whole apples, it does contain more than apple juice.

Apple cider can also lower your risk of inflammation in the body and reduce your chance of cardiovascular disease. Plus, since apple cider is mainly water, it can even help prevent dehydration. Who knew that such a delicious beverage could have so many benefits?

Spiced Apple Cider Recipe

Our amazing apple cider recipe makes approximately one quart of cider. When you’re ready to start making your cider, you’ll want to make sure you have the following ingredients:

  1. 5 lbs. organic apples
  2. 1-inch piece of ginger (optional)
  3. 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  4. ½ tsp. ground allspice
  5. ¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
  6. ¼ tsp. ground cloves
  7. A few drops of liquid stevia to taste

Note: it’s best to mix several different varieties of apples, and for best results, we recommend using a combination of 2/3 sweet apples (like Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, Gala) and 1/3 tart apples (like Granny Smith).

How To Make Spiced Apple Cider

To make your cider, start by juicing all the apples and ginger, and then strain to remove any extra pulp. Next, pour the juice into a Vitamix blender, along with the spices and stevia. Then you’ll want to blend the mixture on high for about three to five minutes, or until it gets warm. You don’t want to overheat the beverage, or else you risk killing the enzymes in the cider. Once the cider reaches the proper temperature, you’re ready to serve and enjoy your warm drink!
