Why I Do Not Advocate A 100% Raw, Vegan Diet

Why I Do Not Advocate A 100% Raw, Vegan Diet

Among the proponents of a 100% “vegan” diet there are a number of views. (“Vegan – a vegetarian who omits all animal products from the diet.” dictionary.com)

(1)  Some vegans believe that just as long as all our food comes from plant sources, it doesn’t matter whether these foods are raw or cooked; the most important issue being all our food comes from plant sources.

(2)  Other vegans teach, practice, or believe that our food should not only come from plant sources exclusively, but that all our foods should be consumed in their natural, raw state, just as Adam and Eve consumed their food in the Bible.

(3)  Then there are those who believe that our diet should consist predominantly of raw, plant-sourced foods, but it is alright and even preferable to have some of those plant foods consumed in cooked form.

Who is right? What is best way for us to consume our foods for one’s health?

These are the issues I would like to address in this Health Tip. Let me say right up front that I am not here to try to please anyone (other than my Lord and Saviour Jesus or course)!

Rather, my desire is to help people, especially God’s people, get well, stay well, and experience the ultimate health God designed for each of us.

You Can Please Some Of The People Some Of The Time…

There is an old saying that: “You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”

This thought reminds me of a story I once heard that took place during the Civil War: Not wanting to choose sides, one fellow put on a blue shirt and gray pants. The only problem with this approach was that by trying not to choose sides, BOTH sides shot at him.

But as I said, I am not here to win a popularity contest but rather I am here to share to the best of my knowledge and experience what works best and what will produce the best results as we seek to maintain a body of wellness (and if you are Christian), a body that is fit for the Master’s use.

What I will be sharing in this article are the results of personally being on a 100% plant-based vegan diet for over 36 years, including 20 years of research, and the input of thousands of others who have adopted a 100% plant-based vegan diet and shared their experiences with me.

I began my journey into this way of eating as a 100% raw, vegan in 1976, at the age of 42, after being told I had colon cancer. My first year on this 100% raw, vegan diet, I consumed all my food raw.

After that first year, I switched to an 85% raw to 15% cooked diet. I will share my reason for the switch later in this article.

Adam & Eve’s Diet

There is absolutely no question in my mind that after God had created Adam, and then Eve some 6,000 years ago, placed them in the Garden of Eden, and gave a diet of 100% raw, plant-sourced foods.

It is interesting to note that not only did God give Adam and Eve a 100% raw diet, but every creature in nature. From the day of their creation to this present day, every creature instinctively consumes all of its food in a natural, raw state.

Following is the diet God gave to Adam in Genesis 1:29:

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb [vegetable] bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat [food].”

Obviously, the diet God gave Adam and then Eve in Genesis 1:29 had designed to be the perfect diet to nourish not only Adam and Eve’s body, but their offspring, and all humans that would be born from that union. All humans possess a similar physical body as did that original couple from who we all descended.

Man lived exclusively on this 100% raw, plant-based diet not only while in the garden, but after man was expelled from the garden. According to biblical history, man lived on this same, plant-based diet exclusively for the next 1,700 years – right up until the flood.

During these 1,700 years of biblical history (from Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the garden until the flood – see Genesis chapters 6-7) man lived to an average age of 912 (age of patriarchs at death) without a single recorded instance of sickness.

I believe that it was only because of the flood covering all plant sourced foods (see Genesis 7:24), that God gave man permission for the very first time, to consume the flesh of the clean animals that were upon the ark (see Genesis 9:3).

Following the flood, and only after man began to consume the flesh of animals (see Genesis 9:3) and began to cook his food that sickness entered the human race.

For the past 4,000+ years, man has been slowly consuming ever greater amounts of animal sourced foods, but never before in history has man consumed the quantities of animal flesh, flesh loaded with health-deteriorating contaminants, as he is consuming currently in this twenty-first century.

The Hallelujah Diet

Today, man’s health is in a deplorable state! And despite the trillions of dollars being poured into so-called “health care” just in America each year alone, the health of the American people continues to decline at an ever alarming rate. So does the health of most people around the world who have adopted a predominantly animal-flesh diet.

Did you know that sick-care costs in the United States are higher than any other place else in the world?

Here at Hallelujah Acres we have found that the primary cause of the majority of physical problems being experienced today — heart attacks, strokes, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, allergies, asthma, and more — are caused by consuming animal source foods (both flesh and dairy).

Hallelujah Acres has also found a solution, a solution to almost all of this sickness and the incredible high cost of treating these physical problems!

The Hallelujah Diet, a diet that excludes all animal-source foods, and returns to the principles of God’s original, Genesis 1:29, 100% plant-sourced foods, will in most instances allow the innate self-healing within the body to restore the health of those who are sick. Furthermore, once the immune system is strengthened, it can prevent future sickness.

Why I Do Not Advocate A 100% Raw, Vegan Diet

Thirty-six years ago I was told I had colon cancer. I did not want to go the medical route for my colon cancer as my mother had done for her colon cancer. She experienced horrible results to the point that, at mom’s death, I felt the treatments had caused her death. So, I went searching for an alternative.

This search Lord led me to an evangelist in Texas by the name of Lester Roloff. He discouraged me from going the medical route, while encouraging me to adopt God’s Genesis 1:29 diet of 100% raw, plant-foods and to drink large amounts of freshly extracted, raw vegetable juices.

Not long after making that diet change, I started to get well. Within days my rectal bleeding had stopped and in less than a year, my baseball-sized tumor in my colon had vanished — all without any assistance from the medical profession.

I experienced these positive results on an a 100% raw, plant-source diet. What I did not share were the NEGATIVE effects I experienced.

One of the negative side-effects of my all-raw diet was too rapid a detoxification. As my body began to rapidly unload stored toxins,  I experienced such fatigue I had to go to bed because of weakness. I lost too much weight as well — I went from 155 pounds before the diet change to just 115 pounds!  I also experienced headaches, and pimple-like sores covered my left leg.

I slowly regain my health and strength and added some weight, but at the end of that first year on an all-raw diet, I was still too skinny and my energy had not yet entirely returned.

So, after that first year, I changed the ratio from 100% raw foods to 85% raw foods and 15% cooked foods, all plant-sourced, of course. I added such items as baked sweet potatoes, baked squash, whole grains and whole grain pastas, steamed vegetables and beans to my diet. As a result, my weight began to increase and my strength returned.

My Experience At Shangri-La Health Resort

Not long after these experiences, the Lord led me to the Shangri-La Health Resort in Bonita Springs, Florida where I became their main lecturer and headed up their organic gardens.

The Shangri-La was a Natural Hygiene fasting resort/retreat where people came with serious physical problems to detoxify through the use of distilled water fasts and a diet of 100% raw, plant foods and juices.

While at the Shangri-La I saw people go through water fasts of anywhere from 3 to 40 days. Most of those who went through these water fasts experienced such rapid detoxification and weight loss that they had to go to bed, just as I had. I even saw a few people die while on an extended water fast.

After a person had broken their water fast, usually with some raw fruit, they were encouraged to continue on a 100% raw, plant-sourced diet, including a high percentage of raw fruits, which contained a high percentage of sugar.

I saw their recovery to be extremely slow, and some appeared unable to regain the strength they had before their fast, at least as long as I was able to observe them.

Dr. Ann Wigmore & Hippocrates Health Institute

A few years later, I learned about Dr. Ann Wigmore and the Hippocrates Health Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. I personally travelled to Boston and spent several weeks learning from “Dr. Ann” as we affectionately called her. I learned a lot there! In fact, Dr. Ann’s kitchen was the first kitchen I had ever been in that did not have a stove.

Dr. Ann taught a 100% raw, plant-sourced diet consisting of tray-grown wheat grass, rejuvelac (made from fermented grains), lots of sprouts, some fermented foods, along with lots of raw ,whole fruits and veggies.

Once again I saw people getting well, but once again I saw people going through strong detox and rapid weight loss.

Personal Research

Between the years of 1976 when I adopted the Genesis 1:29, 100% plant-based diet and 1992 (when Rhonda and I began Hallelujah Acres), I was constantly seeking ever more information. I studied most of the modalities in both the traditional and alternative health fields.

I spent several weeks with Dr. Carey Reams in Blue Ridge, Georgia learning his “Biological Theory of Ionization.” As a biochemist he was able to quantify human health in a number of different ways. And with use of lemon juice to detoxify, raw green drinks and numerous supplements, he was helping many restore their health.

During these years I was constantly looking for what dietary program produced the best results in the shortest amount of time and at the least expense – without the negative baggage I had seen many people experience on an 100% raw, plant-based diet.

The Rest Of The Story

In this Health Tip I have laid the foundation for the diet we teach here at Hallelujah Acres – a diet that promotes a 100% plant-based diet, but allows 15% of the diet to be cooked food

Next week the good Lord willing and if the creeks don’t rise too high, we will answer the question “Why Not All Raw?” and share why, by allowing 15% of our foods to be in cooked form, we are receiving better and faster results, at less cost, and without all those pesky detox symptoms many experience on a 100% raw plant-sourced diet.

Trust you will join us next week for, as the late Paul Harvey used to say: “the rest of the story!”

  1. I agree with 80 /20 on a daily basis. See more at my http://www.rawfooddvds.com

  2. Em Ventures - face book

To stay healthy we need a balanced diet.”fruit, vegetable, grains and nuts! Raw is good in extreme cases, for most people, 70% raw or higher, some baked or cooked food besides, works best!

  3. If you were a Seventh Day Adventist you would se and know and consider and understand our total agreement with what you preach and teach on our earthly menus, and you are right-on, with every thing you utter here, Dear Brother George! May our Saviour and Redeemer continue His rich Blessings on you, your families and all of your followers of our Intended Menu!

    • That hits home here. Last summer, I had the opportunity to become a Hallelujah Health Minister and last fall I became an Adventist. The people there are really actively interested in health ministry and I felt so good that I was allowed to share a dish and they want more on their healthy cooking night. Occasionally, I can make dishes for friends. Hopefully with time I can do something more with health ministry.

  4. Hi Rev. Malkmus,

It’s funny that you’d post this today. I published a post on yesterday and mentioned you in that post.

I have started a challenge for myself to eat raw vegan, I’ve done this before, but I am doing it again. I will try to eat 100% for 21 days, after that, I’ll be at least 75% or more.

I agree with what you are saying. High raw vegan works very well for me. In the past when I have eaten very close to 100% raw, my weight dropped and I didn’t like the way I looked. Just one look in the mirror and I returned to eating more cooked foods. Needless to say, I picked up my weight and started looking better.

Thanks for this post and I look forward reading your future post on this topic!

    Evelyn

  5. Many thrive on 100% raw. There are raw bodybuilders that are 100%. If there are “pesky detox symptoms” then you can assume you’re not finished detoxing. When your body is ready, it will reset itself and you can build strong lean muscle.

  6. This is about the 3rd or 4th item I have look at from this site and am not in agreement with, This guy needs to do his research a lot more before coming out with his so call advise

    • Maybe you haven’t read all the testimonials of virtually all manner of illnesses and diseases being healed by following the H.Diet.. I know it changed our health for the better over 15 years ago. Also, a friend of mine was in stage 3 of breast cancer and finally agreed to do the diet, and in just a few months she was was cancer-free and still is 15 years later. I have done many diets, but the H. Diet is, to me, the healthiest way to go.

    • Backtodenow,You said that “this is about the 3rd or 4th item you had looked at”.I can tell you that I have read hundreds in 15 years from others who have changed their diets to what Rev George suggests and I also have drastic improved health as my dad,4 brothers all died in their 40`s,50`s,and 60`s of heart disease,so becuase of the ‘family history” I also had a heart attack in 2001,and severe bleeder stroke in 2003,but today at age 75 feel much younger, have good levels of cholestoral,BP etc. My testimonie is# 580 in the archives

    • just curious….what do you disagree with? What research have you been doing? Are you in disagreement of 100% raw or the part about not eating all raw. I am always in a fix trying to figure out if I should be 100% raw but our lifestyle makes it easier to be 90% raw most of the time. some days we are 100% and others we are 80/20. My husband has the lost weight and energy issues and I can’t seem to lose the last 5lbs even if we are 100% raw. I have more energy with juicing everyday and raw.

    • Pamela Roggli Teeter

Have you done your research before you post such a reply? At age 62 or so, I adopted his diet plan for 4 years after I trained at one of his centers and experienced many improvements in my health. Then I began adding more of the standard, processed food in my diet until I was eating more of it than raw. I gained weight, health deterioated, became constipated, exhausted, and ill. Three months ago, I returned to the diet Rev. Malkmus recommends, my health is much better, energy is returning, depression is gone, and I have lost 15 of the extra pounds gained while eating standard meat based diet. I am 68. To each his own. I recommend trying a healthy balanced eating plan- without much animal product or none. Whatever your body needs. Pam Roggli Teeter

  7. How do you determine 85%/15%.

    • I do it by calorie, but I think most do it by volume, which cannot really be accurate. I can do it quickly now because I know that I eat approximately 2000 calories a day, because I count them occasionally to see if it changes. I then count only the cooked portion of my diet and divide it by the total amount of calories I generally eat (2000) or the exact amount I ate that day and that gives me the cooked percent (if 100 calories cooked, divide that by 2000 and it gives you .05, which is 5% cooked and 95% raw). I think this is pretty accurate. If I count my calories that day it can be very accurate and I count my calories by weight in grams by weighing my fruits and vegetables esp.

  8. It sounds like water fasts are not for everyone. Here I’m starting to get temp jobs aside my season tax season job so I’m really hoping to be able to save up enough this spring to buy thrifty juicer. I know it will not be as great as the wonderful ones I saw at Hallelujah Acres, but I’ll feel better when I can follow the juicing part of the job better. On my work, it’s had me relatively breeze through a labor temp job aside plenty of burly men moving a bunch of things to build cabinets into 4 story apartments and now, I’m on to drive some auction cars (so thankful I’ve never had to worry about drug tests). Great news at 48 when it’s exceptionally difficult to find any job during this economic crisis.

  9. This is excellent information and I’ve been struggling with which diet to personally follow. I am a stage III cancer survivor, I refused chemo and radiation and switched to eating mostly veggies and fruits, raw and cooked, and took alot of food supplements. It kept my body alkaline as opposed to acidic, which allows your body to heal. Now I found a wonderful alternative physician and she is helping me to check my levels of vita-mins, etc. and is now evaluating what supplements I can stop taking as I’ve had a PET scan that recently showed that I am free of metastatic cancer!!! PTL!!! I had taken hold of my surgeon’s hands and prayed for the Lord to touch and heal me through his hands and to give him and the surgical team wisdom in all that they did for me. The Lord answered my prayer and all who were praying for me and told me that “The cancer was encapsulated and removed in its entirety.” I feel that Rev. Malkmus is right on with his diet recommendtions. I will eat this way for the rest of my life. Thank you, Rev. Malkmus for this very important clarification.

    • last week i was diagnosed with stage IIII non small cell adeno carcinoma of the lung. I need someone to help me through this as i do not want to take chemo or radiation.
I have had 3 cat scans and due for a pet scan and mri of the brain 11/12/12
If you know of anyone please help me save my life
      thanks,
      mary madulka

      • Dear Mary
I’ve been trying this diet for quite a few years and at our potlucks once a month a lady last month had cancer in her lungs and other places with tumors. This person gave her testimony and the tumors have shrunk and the cancer in her lungs is completely gone. I believe this diet with prayer works!
I’ve also seen others that have been healed too of other diseases. Get a friend that will support you and help you juice. Kathy
        Kathy

    • I too, was diagnosed with breast cancer, stage 2, had a mastectomy and had 3 lymph nodes removed. My doctor wanted me to have Chemo also, because he said there is a 60% chance still more cancer in more lymph nodes and I didn’t want anymore removed. I went on the Hallelujah Diet……the RECOVERY DIET and I already lost a lot of weight, but feel so much better. I will continue on this diet very strictly for the ONE year-18 months. AND then continue on the regular Hallelujah diet. I am praying the Lord will heal me just like you. I read and re-read all these testimonies on women getting breast cancer and other type cancer. The Lord lead me to this diet and with HIS help, I too, will get through this. Praise the Lord for all these other testimonies.

  10. Would like to add an omission from my previous recent post. I too now eat grains and beans. Not alot of grains as I’m trying to rid myself of fungus, parasites, etc. and I still have weight to lose.

  11. Does anyone have suggestions for prostate cancer. Someone very close to me was diagnosed with it. His surgery is scheduled April 3. I am hoping there is another way. Thank you…They do not think it has spread beyond the prostate.but it is cancer for sure.

    • Tell your friend to look into the new process being done in Mexico and Canada with a trial now being done by the FDA using high intensity ultra sound along with the Hacres diet.

    • I had prostate cancer 4 years ago. My doctor (MD in alternative medicine) told me to eat a totally vegan diet, with at least 80% of my diet raw. In addition, he provided vitamin C infusions of 100 grams twice a week. After a year and a half I went back to the same urologist who had diagnosed the prostate cancer at first. He found no trace of cancer in the biopsy!

      • Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate your time

      • I wish my father had known about God’s well being plan, early in his life. He died of kidney cancer in May of 2010. I tried and tried to be a good influence on him. He and other inspire me to respect them by learning from the lesson.

  12. How come that the energy loss is prevented by the 15% cooked food?

We thrive on the raw salads, nuts etc and also ingest sprouted seeds with our salads – all together with a portion of cooked veggies.

  13. 100% raw vegan since 2000 has worked for me. The key to gaining weight and building muscle back is adequate calories from fruit and subsequently a reduction in fat to allow that needed fruit simple carbohydrate to assimilate perfectly. I agree that most people will struggle with 100% raw, but only due to lack of knowledge and application. Also, you have to “manage a lot of fruit”, for ripeness when you need it, unless you live in a Paradise like The Garden of Eden!

  14. It is even possible to GET FAT and GAIN TOO MUCH on a 100% raw vegan diet! Yes! I have done this! It requires a tremendous amount of dedication as an experiment, but since I have been raw for over a dozen years I decided to go for it. I can honestly say that you can, in fact get fat from too many calories on a 100% raw vegan diet! But you must eat a significant amount of food. Most people do not have the dedication to do this for a long enough period of time to see such results. Of course I prefer to eat the perfect amount of calories for me, and I enjoy the incredible feeling of super energy and health that 100% raw vegan gives me, so I do not enjoy eating cooked food. The only cooked food I will have is some steamed sweet potatoes and perhaps Yukon Gold potatoes in the dead of winter when I do not have any more ripe fruit, or it has lost it’s taste that few weeks. Then I will limit my cooked potatoes (nothing on them- 100% natural hygiene also) to my last meal of the day twice a week at most during those “times of the flood” when I do not have access to ripe sweet fruits.

  15. I have been on a very-close-to 100% diet for over 7 years. I am not doing very well and don’t know where to go from here. I was about 85% raw for about 15 years before that (99% vegan). I was following the Hallelujah diet, but was not getting juices in every single day. When I went totally raw the results were so dramatic that I was immediately sold on it. I intended to remain on it forever. However, as time went on I was having problems. One was that I got so thin that it was scary; I was too thin when I started and lost 15 pounds very quickly. I ended up spending a lot of money on Doctors (Naturopaths etc). to find an answer, but just kept getting worse. They did find some answers but no solutions to all the disorders I have (I have many health disorders, most developed while eating an animal based diet). The really frustrating quencher came 2 years ago when I joined the gym. Thinking that exercise was what I needed I was going 3 or 4 times a week. I felt awful exercising and didn’t ever seem to recover. Gradually I went less and less, and now barely go 4 times a month. I do some at home, because it doesn’t wipe me out so much. I did put on weight at the gym and am grateful for that but what ever happened to feeling good and energetic? It makes total sense to me that this is the best diet to eat I do not understand why it is not working. Thank you George for your article, I will try your a advice. I have tried eating a small amount of meat a few times but did not think it helped very much. Most people say that is what I need. I have a hard time believing that, but it may bring my iron stores up.

  16. Dear George, I’ve read that certain foods like the cruciferous ones, spinach, brocholi, etc should be slightly cooked especially if you have thyroid problems. There is something in these foods that can cause problems with the thyroid gland if you eat them raw. I’m a firm believer in as much raw as possible and did go through a “healing crisis” which is good when I first changed my diet to completely raw. I felt terribly for three days and there was so much mucus (toxins) that came out, but felt like a new human being afterwards. Healing crisis are good things and when people fast for extended periods of time especially if they aren’t use to it, can experience such an event. I feel that is what you had experienced in the beginning as well, the body was purging all those toxins that had accommulated over the years of a poor diet. Keep up the good work and may the Lord bless your efforts to share the truth about eating.

  17. this is an amazing storey–healed with a raw plant based lifestyle of one of the worst cancers and still bad mouthed it–of course the detox was hard but necessary and once healed your weight will balance–i se these stories all the time–you are alive and not dead–all chronic diseases can be healed including cancer, diabetes,Alzheimer’s,etc with a raw plant diet–the testimonies are all over the place–check it out–even autoimmune diseases

  18. You diet plan totally makes sense~

  19. Thank you for sharing your wealth of experience in both following a high raw diet and having seen so much and worked with so many people over the years! It is incredibly valuable as there is no real research out there, so all we have is each-other. I especially enjoy reading the information from people who are not selling supplements as I trust it more. I am also working in the raw field for 12 years now, and from my observations there is no one-size-fits-all raw diet. Even in ones own lifespan, ones needs change and ones diet must be fine-tuned as you go along. There are many of us who are food-addicts who need to be 100% raw to “stay on the wagon” and stay alive. However, for those who are able to eat some cooked food without going off the deep end, more power to them! (I’m slightly jealous). I will definitely tune in to your followup article!

  20. 80% will do wonders for someone on a SAD with health issues. For anyone out there trying to regenerate nerves, cure cancers in stage 3 or 4, or eliminate any other chronic issue like that, you’re going to eventually plateau at 80% and will need to do a few months on 100%. Just my experience as a self-trained detox helper.

  21. Of course we cannot go on a 100% raw vegan diet: we would have do live a 100% natural life as well, like Adam and Eve in the Paradise – we would be arrested in the first place…ah ah ah ah

  22. Of course we couldn´t go on a 100% raw vegan diet: we would have to live a 100%
natural life as well, like Adam and Eve; no way , we would be arrested in the first place – ah ah ah ah …

  23. Of course we couldn´t go on a 100% raw vegan diet: we would have to live a 100% natural life as well, like Adam and Eve; no way, we would be arrested in the first place ah ah ah ah……..

  24. I have no cancer, heart disease our diabetes, as far as I know, but I have been trying hard not to have to face such chronical diseases, and I am fine up to now, and feel great on a vegetarian, mostly raw vegan diet, since 1975 when I was 30 years old.I am glad to get to know that I am not alone, after all, to find out many other people who feel and live like me. Thanks for the inspiring message.

  25. I have been a vegetarian most of my life, trying to be a 100% raw vegan, since 1975, and my relatives and friends use to say I haven´t changed too much since my 40´s . My profile photo (facebook) was taken when I was 63, just 4 years ago… and it is not photoshopp ah ah ah

    • You do not know what you are missing. Seriously, trust one who has gone before (as Virgil told Dante). Sure you can get away with a lot with genetics (more power to you ah ah ah), and a vegan mostly raw diet is a huge step towards eliminating illness and disease suffering from your life. Of course. I know. I was there. But then I surpassed that as a ten year experiment ah ah– just for kicks ah ah. Guess what? While we can survive quite well on a mostly raw vegan healthful diet (no junk not even vegan, no sodium chloride, no oil etc..), the “finishing touch” on feeling truly fantastic can only be experienced when one is 100% raw. I know. From experience.

  26. Someone argued somewhere that if human race hadn´t ventured to eat meat and lived the way most people live ever since early times there wasn´t any civilization at all. I agree, except for the fact that I am not so enthusiastic about this kind of civilization as he or she is; in fact ,I would rather call it devastation. What else could I say? Look at our big towns, your New York, Hong Kong, or my São Paulo, for instance, just take a look at our poluted, overcrowded cities all over our devastated
planet, their skyscrapers, their proud towers rising high above the prevalent, poor imagination of people all around the world, as monuments to deforestation, devastation and death – yes, cemeteries of countless tombs, huge imponent mausoleums looming ghostly among the smoke from the last trees cut down by human greed. Sorry, but it isn`t difficult to figure out what will be the final result of this mess of a civilization . So, tell me what you eat and I will tell you how you behave. Behaving the way most of us have behaved throughout the centuries we couldn´t have achieved any better than this varnish of a civilization.

  27. Now and then, I hear or read someone preaching a short and even a long term fasting in order to get rid of toxins. But our body wasn´t ment to go on empty not even for a short while as far as I can conceive , and if there is something wrong that shouldn´t be there, if there are toxins to be eliminated, the best way to eliminate them, as far as I have experienced myself, is just to eat and drink the right things – a lot of right things, namely, fruit, vegetables juices, and all of those good things our own intuition is always telling us to eat or drink ; they in turn will clean our bodies and enhence our conscience. That´s the key: to wake up for life, to transcend Nature itself, taking that final step toward our destiny. Otherwise, we will keep on being no more than animals. Even Budha gave up fasting.

  28. Depending on how long you have eaten unhealthy foods, you are going to go through a long detox period!! The long detox is worth it once you don’t get sick, never have low energy and more!! I know someone who has been 100% raw vegan for 7 years, and she experienced a long detox and her skin is glowing, she is at a healthy wait, hasn’t gotten sick in 7 years, and no longer is hyper-glycemic!!!!

  32. In the past 20+ years I’ve been reading the newsletters and advocating the teachings and diet of Rev Malkmus; this is the first time I’ve heard him describe the negative side effects he experienced on a totally raw, vegan diet he followed the first year that cured his cancer! His public admission at this point is long overdue if others are going to have a chance to succeed on the Hdiet. However, I find myself caught between two broader nutritional ideologies…plant vs paleo…with credible proponents on both sides. In coping with how to evaluate and choose between these two contrasting viewpoints, I have opted for a more middle of the road approach that Jesus, my Lord and Savior took….emenating historically from the Old Testament which is filled with food analogies that include lamb, fatted calves, honey, milk, bread, oil, barley, salt…and recalling that Jesus cooked fish for his apostles, multiplied the fish and loaves, instituted the Eucharist with wine, instructing us to partake! I am concluding (it’s been a long process for me) if the food is raised and fed sustainably that some meat, eggs, dairy, oils, fish, are not a threat to my health. Of course a mostly plant-based diet makes sense, but I find myself asking, “WWJD”……or more to the point, “WDJD”?

I think we can agree that when God created man, he placed him in the Garden and told him what to eat (Gen 1:29). He gave man what was the most optimal way to nourish the body He had just entrusted to him. Also, at this point, man had eternal life here on earth with only one test of his volition. As we know, man failed the test and was driven from the Garden (Gen 3:22-24). We don’t know how long man lived prior to sinning as time was not an element and there was no physical death. We can also agree I believe, God gave man the very best in nourishment for the human body. Further, it seems apparent from Isaiah 11:6-9 that once again during the Millennial reign of Christ, there will once again be no eating or killing of animal flesh (even in the animal kingdom)!

It seems reasonable, that although God allowed the eating of flesh in Genesis 9 – some 1600+ years after man’s initial sin ( and we really don’t know why), that God’s original plant-based diet might just be the ideal way to nourish the human body in this interim period from the flood to the millennium.

In regards to WWJD – I would suggest that possible in light of the contamination of animal flesh and dairy from a host of environmental toxins (even grass fed animals concentrate the toxins in the flesh) that perhaps Jesus too would find it wise to nourish the body as close to God’s original diet as we can. Interestingly, in Jesus day, flesh and dairy were not contaminated, environment was pure, plant-foods were abundantly rich in nutrition and maintaining health was much easier. It is often a challenge today, doing the best we know.

Interestingly in Dr T. Colin Campbell’s research for decades with the rural Chinese people who most likely raised mush of what they consumed, he found the less animal source foods consumed the greater the level of health. In his research he learned that a diet with as little as 5% of the calories coming from animal protein, he would turn on and turn off cancer growth.

In light of the circumstance under which we live today WWJD?

    • I have been battling in my mind plant vs. paleo for the past couple of years. I want to do a vegan diet because I feel so good while on it, but I notice a significant amount of loss in strength when I’m at the gym, plus it takes so much prep work and so much more time. I have been thinking I might do a mostly vegetarian diet, add some eggs, chicken, and fish – but only small amounts of meat and eat the meat before 4:00 pm. I listened to a documentary a while back that said if you’re going to eat meat, be sure to eat it before 4:00 pm (or depending on your schedule). I’ve just been on the fence with vegan vs. paleo….one day we’ll figure it out!
