Which Foods Best Fuel Our Bodies?

Which Foods Best Fuel Our Bodies?

Our automobile requires fuel on which to run. How well our automobile runs is dependent on the quality of the fuel we place in the fuel tank. Poor quality or low octane fuel will cause our automobile to run poorly, pinging knocking, while high quality and high octane fuel will cause our automobile to run as designed.

Just like your automobile, your body also requires fuel on which to run.

How well your body runs is also dependent on the quality of fuel you place in its fuel tank (stomach).Poor quality fuel (food and drink) will cause your body to run poorly, often causing it to ping and knock with low energy and sickness, while high quality fuel will cause your body to run well with high energy and free of sickness.

Have you ever given any thought to the type of fuel you are placing in your fuel tank? What I am attempting each of us to realize here is that we each have the ability to determine what type of fuel we provide our body and thus how well our body will perform each and every day.

As we pull up to the fuel pump (dinner table) each day of our life for a meal or snack, we have a choice. Yes, we each have the ability to choose what grade of fuel we are going to place into our fuel tank, and by that choice we determine how well our body will perform.

Interestingly, with regard to fuel quality, the most expensive fuels we can place into our bodies are the poorest fuels — they produce the produce the poorest results.

On the other hand, the least expensive fuels will produce the best results. With that as an introduction, let’s look at what God had to say about the subject:

What Did God Say The Ideal Fuel Was?

There is only one place we can turn in order to learn what is ideal fuel for the human body – and that is God’s instruction manual! The Bible is God’s instruction manual, given to us for our learning in all areas of life.

Though God used a number of writers to pen the words found in the Bible, the entire bible originated with God – it was God inspired:

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
(II Timothy 3:16-17)

But you say the Bible was written thousands of years ago and we have much more up-to-date knowledge as to how we should fuel our bodies. Today we have university trained nutritionists to guide us, and certainly they know more as to what proper fuel for our physical body is than some old antiquated book called the Bible.

Interestingly, the Bible addresses this challenge in the following verses:

“The wisdom of this world foolishness with God”
(1Corithians 3:19)

“Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth”
(II Timothy 3:70)

“Let God be true and every man a liar.”
(Romans 3:4)

Some 6,000 years ago, God — the creator of the first human, Adam — gave instructions to Adam as to what fuel he should fuel his body with, and through Adam to every human who would ever walk this earth:

“AND GOD SAID, behold I have given you every herb (vegetable) bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to YOU it shall be for meat (FUEL).
(Genesis 1:29).

Notice the first three words – “AND GOD SAID. . . .” Now if you believe the Bible to be the Word of God as I do, then we must accept this verse as being God’s original intent concerning the ultimate fuel for the human body.

Friends, this is not this editor speaking, but this is God! This is what He said immediately after creating that very first man followed by the first woman. He said they should eat “every vegetable, fruit, and seed”.

If we believe the Bible to be the word of God, then we must accept this truth!

What Type Of Fuels Are We Fueling Our Bodies With Today?

If we take even a casual look at what fuel we are using to nourish our bodies with today, I believe most will have to admit that we have departed greatly from God’s instructions.

In God’s original Genesis 1:29 diet you will find:

  • no Pepsi Cola, Coke, Sun Drop, or any other soft drinks
  • no Twinkies, donuts, cinnamon buns, pies, cakes or any other sugar dessert
  • no candy or gum
  • no coffee, tea, or hot chocolate
  • no any alcoholic drink
  • no tobacco or toxic drug (over-the-counter, doctor-prescribed, or recreational)

There was no meat in that original diet. In fact, it wasn’t until some 1,700 years later, after a flood had destroyed all plant fuel, that God allowed man to consume the flesh of an animal in Genesis 9:3.

And that was, apparently, only for survival purposes because the flood had destroyed all plant fuel.

Note that there were no French fries or other fried foods in God’s Genesis 1:29 diet, either. There were no sausages, biscuits or gravy. In fact there wasn’t even any cooked food. Nor were there any preservatives, dyes or coloring agents, sodium chloride (table salt) MSG, sodium nitrates or nitrites.

There were no white bleached flour or breads, or cakes and pastries made from it. There was no bacon and eggs or sausage and pancakes, or cereals or granola.

Oh I could go on and on here listing all the non-garden foods and substances we are consuming today that were not included in God’s original Genesis 1:29 diet.

But we will stop here and for a few minutes compare what God instructed us to consume as fuel with what mankind is consuming for fuel today. And after this brief comparison I believe all will agree we have departed greatly from God’s original intent.

In The Beginning

In the beginning, all that was available to fuel the body with were the natural, raw, organically grown living plant foods (fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts).

These were the foods God had created and placed in the garden to provide mankind with the fuel needed to run the complex physical body God had created.

Interestingly, every plant-eating animal of God in the wild has — since creation by God some 6,000 years ago until this present moment — instinctively consumed their fuel directly from the plants in the garden in its living and raw form.

Only man, who has lost all natural instincts, cooks his food and consumes for fuel items found outside the garden.

What we are consuming for fuel today reminds me of a cartoon I saw many years ago with the heading “We’ve come a long way baby”.  In the cartoon was depicted a scantily clad, intoxicated woman, with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth and a bottle of booze in her hand.

The cartoon depicted a woman traveling down a very dangerous and destructive road that would end in disaster – I believe most people today are traveling down a very dangerous road because of what they are placing into our bodies for fuel.

For proof,  just take a look at the unprecedented sickness and physical breakdown, beginning ever earlier in life, and the exorbitant costs for this so-called health care, which is bankrupting individuals, families, and even our nation.

Did God Design Us To Experience Sickness?

God did not design His human creation to experience sickness! Sickness was never a part of God’s plan for His human or even animal creation.  After God had completed his six days of creation in Genesis Chapter One, he had the following to say:

“And God saw everything he had made, and, behold it was very good.”
(Genesis 1:31)

God made no mistakes when He created man, nor did He create man to experience sickness. In fact, in 3 John 2, the Bible says:

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

God’s desire is that we be as well in our physical bodies as we are in our spiritual souls.

If we believe the Bible to be the Word of God, then we must accept these verses as truth. If God did not design us to be sick and it is His “wish above all things” that we “be in health”, why is it that most people experience ill health today?

The Bible provides us some clues…

Why Does Man Experience Sickness?

The first clue is found in Proverbs 26:2 where we read:

“So the curse causeless shall not come.”

Could it be that the curse of sickness will not come without a CAUSE? And if that be true, just what could that CAUSE be?

The second clue is found in Galatians 6:7 where we read:

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”!

Here the Bible is telling us in no uncertain words that what we sow is what we will reap!

Have you ever considered that what you are eating (sowing) may be what is producing the physical problems you are experiencing (reaping).

That is certainly what I have found to be true through research and personal experience. It is also the experience of tens of thousands from around the world who have written me to share how dramatically their health improved after they changed the fuel they were fueling their bodies with.

I have learned that we can actually turn disease on and off simply by changing the grade and octane of the fuels (food and drink) we place into the body. Fuels found outside the garden turn on disease and fuels from garden foods turn off disease. Why are so many such slow learners?

This simple truth of sowing and reaping is why the Christian community is just as sick as the non-Christian communities and why prayer meeting night is dominated with the prayer requests for healing. Why is this so?

The third clue is found in Hosea 4:6, where we read:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

When it comes to fueling our bodies, God’s people are consuming low octane, non-garden foods, rather than the high octane fuels God told us we should nourish our bodies with in Genesis 1:29.

When it comes to how best to nourish our physical bodies, the Christian community is walking in the same darkness as the world community. Both camps are experiencing the same physical breakdown, regardless of how many prayers the Christian offers up to God for healing.

If you are today experiencing either physical or psychological breakdown, please consider changing the fuel!

After choosing Christ as your personal Saviour, this change in fuel could be the next greatest decision of your life. Can you imagine life without sickness? It could be a reality in your life!

  1. Why is it that even though I continue to read about, learn, and have such a strong desire to change my old habits, I still continue to eat the wrong things? I realize I’m poisoning myself, and destroying my health one bite at a time; yet still make unhealthy choices. It’s frustrating!! I can’t figure out if the big draw to the wrong foods is addictions, or an underlying unresolved emotional issue that needs to be dealt with. There are no Health Ministers in my area that provide support groups, meetings, etc.. so getting the support I need is impossible. My husband and friends have no desire to learn about, or implement any type of healthy lifestyle. So I feel very alone in this venture. How does one overcome such obstacles?

    • Elizabeth you can do it. Wake up every morning and tell yourself that “I am a child of the most high God and I am created for great things.” Then ask the Lord to send you an encourager if that is what you need. His Word says He will supply all your needs according to His riches. Remember to tell yourself who you are (created for great things, and His child). It will take time but you will see a change, but if you really believe this, repeat it to your self, and read God’s Word for scriptures that back it up. It will take some effort but YOU CAN DO IT!

    • Your e-mail makes a lot sense. There are a lot of people in the same boat Elizabeth. I award your courage to come out and say your true feelings. A lot of our problems are addictions to food and other additives they put in food to make us become addicted. Just pray to God everyday and ask to help you with this issue. You can do it. God Bless

    • I too had your problem a few yeas ago. I knew about the diet a long time and had been vegetarian for several years. I finally had to dive in cold turkey and just do it. When I was tempted to cheat, I went back to reading the articles, books, or other literature put out by HA. I also learned to prepare foods, try lots of new recipes, and remember that nothing will taste the same as the old foods did and be ok with that. After awhile, you will no longer crave things you used to. Last year I visited a lifestyle center which helped me not to feel so alone. My family still does not eat the way I do, but I have improved their diet quite a bit. They often will eat some of the salads, sandwiches and cooked foods I make for me now. What helps me stay on this diet the most is the improvement in the way I feel. I never want to go back to the old way because I was so miserable. Good luck and God bless.

    • Be that one that start what will be healthy and longevity living, you can do it!

    • The first thing that helped me was to find community in the Raw food world, and ten years ago it was only on the internet. Experimenting with many different philosophies of plant based nutrition I have found that flooding your body with vitamins and mineral rich plants Blended in a Vitamix was the simplest and quickest way to get there.
Our bodies and soils are so deprived of nutrients that supplementing with them is also very helpful. If inclined check out the work of Dr. Eric braverman “Younger You” and see if you can apply vegan nutrition to his brain balancing science. Having lived a lifetime of illness and stress, I know you will only get stronger and more vital as you incorporate these ideals

    • My advise would be to continue to keep on the right track, and in due time your husband, and friends, will see great results in your appearance and energy.. I have experienced the same thing, but as people have seen the positive results they will start asking questions… Please read and study and continue to grow in this wonderful journey.. I have be in the h acres diet., – lifestyle for 6 years., and absolutely love it and will never leave it… There are challenges along the way, but God gives you the grace to sustain the bumps, and learn from them…

  2. Can we eat bread and if so how can we find bread without wheat

    • Gluten Free bread is available in many stores but expensive and not always so good. but remember it is the cooked portion of the Hallelujah diet only that you would eat bread and there are many other options for this besides bread if you cant tolerate wheat. . So many in western society are addicted to the sugar rush from the carbohydrate rich high glycemic breads that we can get so easily and cheaply. Just be sure you are aware of why you want to keep bread in your diet and if it is because of an addiction to the carbs the Hallelujah diet if done properly with help you or anyone with this.

  3. I appreciate all your health messages! I truly believe in them and want to practice them in my life. Where can I go to find a daily menu of what I should be eating and what supplements to use along with the Hallelujah diet, such as barley green etc. I work full time and go to the gym 5 days a week and have a hard time coming up with ideas of what to plan for meals.

    • Donna, when I started the Hallelujah Diet, I bought a couple of recipe books from HA and searched the recipes on their website. I found ten recipes that sounded good to us, tried them, and put the successful ones in a meal rotation. The next week I repeated those, and tried five more. I’ve been on the diet for two years now and have a card file with fourteen menus for summer and fourteen for winter. So now I can go for two weeks without any repeats. I continue to try a new one or two every week, and add the ones we like to our rotation, increasing the variety in our meals. I’m developing my card file to include categories such as: Quick and Easy; Church dinners (or other carry-ins); Brown Bag; On the Road; Make-Ahead; etc. So in special circumstances I can pull out what I need.

      • Mary Beth,
Is there any way for you to send me your recipes you have on your list for all year? Maybe just the tittles so I can find them? Or email them to me? Linda
        Leave me a message here…206(6 hundred)5four4four

  4. Elizabeth, i found that when I started with small changes and was feeling better, my husband started to take notice. He eventually started to make some of those same changes. After a few months of this, he is now much more open to making more healthy changes. Last night we had our first meatless dinner …….. it was a dinner from one of the Hallelujah Recipe books!
My kids, both age 10, helped me prepare it. They all loved it!

My challenge now is to get him to realize that the constant consumption of beer is not good for him!!

  5. I have a great deal of problem with nuts and berries since I have diverticulitis. It is suppose not to hurt me but I get infected every time I eat them. Any Suggestions???????

  6. This was and is a great article. I follow this way of eating, somewhat, but not entirely. Wish I were more disciplined to follow it completely. I am working on it as I know it’s the best way to sow; eating right.

  7. Sandra Baker Stanton

    You said it all!
Last night I watched a documentary “FOOD MATTERS’. Hosted by David Wolfe, author of Superfoods and many other books. He also says exactly what you are saying, “Food Matters!” Nuts, whole grains, plants, vegetables, fruits and JUICING RAW is the best possible food for optimum health. The documentary went on to say that illness is directly related to pesticides, meat and dairy and other man made convenience foods that people consume. Further that Doctors are NOT trained in nutrition and are educated to use drugs to treat illnesses instead of food. IF people would only understand that prescription drugs and their side effects cause more deaths and cost Billions of dollars, lives wasted and money spent and we are no further ahead that 40 years ago with illnesses that can be reversed or prevented. Simply stated, eating an organic plant based diet is so simple, inexpensive, gives you the vitamins and minerals needed to heal everything that is wrong with us, why do we think taking a pill is the answer to illness?
Friends, the old saying is “keep it simple,……….. stupid!”
I enjoy so very much your words of wisdom, seems that it’s the best kept SECRET in the universe!
    Blessings!
    Sandy Stanton
