Where Do I Get My Protein?

All plant-based foods contain protein in greater or lesser amounts.

For instance, spinach, kale, and broccoli are rich sources of protein, providing 40% to 50% of their calories in protein. In fact, there is more than twice the protein in one 100 calories of broccoli than there is in 100 calories of beef.

Beans and legumes are another great source of protein, with many supplying 30 percent of their calories in the form of protein.  Avocados, seeds and nuts are also great sources of protein.

If a person is eating a good variety of foods and eating enough food to meet the caloric needs of their body, there is ample protein in The Hallelujah Diet.

I am personally nearing my 80th birthday, have been on the 100% plant-based Hallelujah Diet for over 36 years, and have never experienced any lack in protein.

I am still building muscle, my energy exceeds that of many a teenager, and my hair is growing so fast that my barber remarks about its rapid growth almost every time I get a haircut. After he had made that remark recently, I asked him if other men my age are not growing their hair as rapidly as I, and his reply was: ‘Most men your age either don’t have hair or are dead!’

  2. Thanks for sharing this info! Very timely! My MIL had a few things to say about us not eating meat or any animal product. She said that meat had a different kind of protein that we need. I don’t want to slap her up the side of her head with the info, but do want to be prepared when the next conversation comes. Will be saving this! Thanks again!

    • Ask her how the cows get THEIR protein? That should fix it on the spot. So tired of the Dairy and Meat industry trying to pull the wool over our eyes!

    I’ve been told by my trainer that it is complete protein that is important for building muscle. Do the vegetables mentioned have complete protein. My trainer leans towards fish and chicken for complete protein.

  5. Yes, and what about children? What about DHA? That can only be found in animal fats and is necessary for brain development?

  6. Do you have any special recommendations for one with severe migraine, severe fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome? This is my dear friend who is coming to stay with me while looking for a house to buy in our area, and during her stay I’d like to encourage her.

  7. We attended the Health Minister Seminar in March. My husband has lost 17 pounds in a month and a half. We met with our pastor’s wife yesterday and are going to hold an all day seminar for our church on June 30. We are loving the diet change and for the first time, I enjoy preparing meals. We are juicing together and are planting a garden. Thank you so much George and Rhonda for your faithfulness.

    • Hi Nancy. I also attended the HMT in March. I’m curious, how will you conduct the all day seminar for your church? What curriculum and/or teaching tools will you use to cover a whole day?
