This year, spring's official start date is March 20. With less than a month to go until the new season's arrival, it's critical to prepare your body for the change in weather. While there's no telling when the snow and cold temperatures will officially subside, we're still getting closer and closer to sunny days and blooming flowers by the minute. With that said, your health and wellness could be negatively impacted if you don't prepare your immune system, because changes in temperature and weather conditions can weaken it. Beyond the strength of God, there are a number of ways to fuel your body to stay healthy in the midst of winter's end.

"Change in temperature can weaken your immune system."

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8: For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing …

Here are a few ways to prepare your immune system for the change in seasons:

Avoid Sugar
Consuming refined sugar doesn't only lead to weight gain and tooth decay: Sugar has the ability to completely destroy your immune system. Avoiding the sweet stuff is especially critical if you feel yourself getting sick as the seasons change, but Dr. Mercola strongly suggests eliminating it from your diet completely if you want your body to thrive the way God intended.

Get Your Exercise
By exercising on a regular basis, you're allowing proper blood flow throughout your body. This fuels your immune system to work its best, allowing it to tackle any foreign germs before they spread and turn into a virus. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, plus two days dedicated to strength-training exercises every week. But that doesn't mean you have to spend all of your time in the fitness center. Take advantage of spring's arrival and exercise outside when the weather allows it.

Sleep Well
Without enough sleep, your body doesn't have the chance to recharge for the following day. This makes the immune system more susceptible to infection. For a good night's sleep, adults should be resting between 7 and 9 hours.

Follow a Plant-Based Diet
When you eliminate the harmful refined foods from your diet and start following a primarily-raw, plant-based diet, you're giving your immune system - and the rest of your body - the fuel it needs to thrive and fight viruses that may invade as the outdoor temperatures increase. After all, when God created the human body, he did so with the assumption that it would be fueled properly - with only the raw, natural sustenance of the earth. Eating an abundance of vegetables, fruits, organic grains and nuts is the easiest way to prepare your defense system for the season ahead.
