The Most Dangerous Cancers in Men and Women

Read on to learn which cancers are most dangerous in men and women.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S. With fatalities totaling almost 600,000 in 2015, it's important to understand which cancers impact men and women along with the risk factors and potential ways to lessen your chances of developing cancer. Based on data collected by the American Cancer Society in 2013, here are the most dangerous cancers in men and women:
  • In men: lung and bronchus, prostate, colon and rectum, pancreas, and liver and intrahepatic bile duct.
  • In women: lung and bronchus, breast, colon and rectum, pancreas and ovary.
While the cause of these cancers cannot always be determined, there are numerous risk factors - some controllable - that may reduce your risk. Some of the more common factors include smoking, DNA mutation, older age, poor diet, exposure to chemicals, age, family history and inflammation. Sometimes, reducing your risk is as simple as making better lifestyle choices. Setting your body up for success is key to living a healthful, cancer-free life. A Second Opinion Dr. David Katz, MD is the immediate past president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the founder and president of The True Health Initiative. He maintains that the main cause of disease are misuse of forks, feet, fingers. "Regular physical activity (feet) is associated with weight control, reduced inflammation, enhanced immune function and reduced cancer risk specifically. Optimal diet (forks) exerts far-ranging effects on every aspect of physiology, and similarly stands to reduce the risk of all chronic disease," he said. "Combine eating well and being active with a commitment to never hold a cigarette (fingers), and the risk of all chronic disease declines by roughly 80 percent." Refueling Your Body to Optimal Health When it comes to avoiding a cancer diagnosis, keeping your body in great shape is key. Following a normal sleep schedule, minimizing your stress and exercising regularly are some of the ways to ensure your wellness, but what you fuel your body with is the most important component. Living off of a diet that consists of refined sugars, saturated fats and processed foods will increase your risk for multiple diseases, and can ultimately lead to cancer. Following a primarily raw, plant-based eating regimen, such as the Hallelujah Diet, uses natural produce, organic whole grains, nuts and seeds to fuel a thriving body. The benefits of eating raw, wholesome foods that are loaded with vitamins and minerals are endless. Take a look at some of the testimonials we've received over the year about how the Hallelujah Diet reversed the failing health of our followers!
